5000's or RSX

5000's or RSX
I've done a lot of reading, can't quite decide.
I have a 2001 2WD SC
I do zero offroading, I do tow a camper, 4000lbs from time to time.
I want to improve the handling, espically when turning. I want a good solid ride but not bone jarring.
I will be adding the front and rear Hellwig sway bars, I've also lowered the rear 2".
Which Rancho's would you reccomend, RSX's or 5000's
Thanks guys,
Patrick

Here is a sale on Ranchos. If you want to be able to adjust for when you are towing and not towing, try the RS9000X's. But the RSX's are supposed to be great shocks also.

My situation is exactly the same as your's Texas. I emailed the exact same question to Rancho's technical guys. This was the exchange, hope it helps:
Thank you for your interest in Rancho suspension products. The shocks I
would recommend you use the RSX Reflex. The shocks for a 4WD F-150 are
RSX17020 for the front and the rear shocks are RSX17024. If you have a
2WD, the front shocks are RSX17014 and the rear shocks are RSX17015.

Russ Sylvester has a vehicle with the following characteristics:

Make: Ford
Model: F-150
Year: 2001

Russ Sylvester submitted the following questions:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Comments: I need some help with determining which shock fits my needs. My
normal driving is city/rural although I often drive highway pulling our 27'
travel trailer. My stock shocks are giving up and I want to hopefully
improve the highway under load driving. I never do any off-roading so that
isn't a concern. I am looking at either the RSX or the RS5000 series as I
am assuming they are designed for my type applications. Suggestions?

Also as a Note you can get PRO-COMP shocks much cheaper through 4wheelpart.com and they are all(Ranch,Procomp) made by Monroe. The 3000ES is the same as the RS500 rancho.
The 9000ES is the same shock as the RSX.

Went with the RS9000s, took about 30 minutes to test drive them and set them the way I wanted them, and it's golden. I like being able to tune the shocks to the exact damper that I want, giving me the ride I'm looking for. Not that I can see a need to change the settings, but if I'm ever in a situation where I need stiffer shocks, it's the twist of a dial.
