Question Wandell- question for you

You seem to know the most about this but for some reason I can't find you posts on the subject. I have an '03 2wd Screw and I am interested in leveling out the front end. I see Daystar has some stuff but not sure if they are the only ones or the best. Who is the best for a 2" leveling kit. Also once I do that what tires can fit under there? I am thinking of going with 285/65-16's because I don't want them to look stuffed and I think 285/75-16's will look bad.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if anyone besides Daystar makes coil spring spacers for 97-03 4x2 F-150's. They are probably the largest manufacturer for coil spring spacers. I've had a set on my Grand Cherokee since 2000 and couldn't be happier with them. I know Revtek makes some spacers but I've never seen any advertised for your truck. I think Fabtech makes 2 inch lift coils for 4x2's also, which is another option. Also, I've never seen a 285/65-16 off road tire. I think a 285/75-16 will look fine and fit easily. Besides, once you lift your truck a little, you'll probably want to lift it more. I bet you'll be looking a lift spindles before you know it.

Thumbs up

I don't know if I will go so far as to add another lift, I had a Fabtech on my Dodge Dakota before and I hated it. Something about replacing the stock suspension doesn't excite me too much anymore. I figure the guys that work for Ford and design this stuff get paid a lot to do it, so why screw with it. Besides, that stuff is expensive...

Just thinking about putting a little more sporty set up rather than the boring 7-spoke 17"s that came with it. Seems like the 33's (285/75-16) are a little big with a 2wd to me, I was thinking of some 31's but wider than the 265/75's I had before. That is why I wanted the 285/65-16. I will see if I can find it, if not then I will figure something out. Thanks though for the help.

BFG makes the AT KO in 275/70-16. You might want to check those out.

Angry

Hey Wandell,
I just called 4wheelparts.com to try to schedule an install for the Daystar 1 1/2" coil spacers. They quted spacers at $75, told me install plus allignment was $145, I would need new cams at $45 and he suggested new shocks so they don't top out.

Now when I read the forums about this crap no one mentioned all this. Does this sound normal or is he trying to upsell the crap out of me? I'm not willing to pay $350-400 for 1 1/2" leveling kit. Uggghhhh, this is frustrating. I really think I need to get under my car and disect the entire fricken thing so I understand all this crap better.

I don't think you need new shocks because the bumpstops limit the travel, not the shocks. I'm not sure if you need the alignment cams or not. If you do, that price sounds about right. I wouldn't think you would need them with just 1 /1/2 inches of lift, but you may. I have no idea how much labor would be for the installation of the spacers.
