You may need new or better shocks, but you don't need a different length. Your bumpstops limit how much travel you have.

My torsion bars are barely turned up. I have a 3 inch body lift. Also I have the same shocks as you, except Ford told Tennaco to paint yours white and put their Rancho labels on them.

You can only go so high before your suspension "tops out" or is stopped by the bump stops. Jack your truck up untill the front wheels clear the ground. That is as high as you can go no matter how much preload you put on the torsion bars. You think these trucks ride rough with the torsion bars cranked up some, just think how bad it will be with absolutely no down travel in the front suspension.

Slowrancher, you do not need new shocks and you have not "stretched" out your old shocks as you say. In essence, you did not change the "geometry" of your suspension at all. You also in essence, did not lift your truck. You simply moved the control arms to a different location in there normal range of travel while at rest. That results in your truck sitting higher in the front but no changes as far as the suspension is concerned. Think about it like this...Your suspension (and mostly the shock) is designed to work through the entire length of the suspension travel, right? Now, did you change anything that altered the amount of suspension travel or change the full extended distance from the control arm to the upper shock mount?? No. Also, shocks would not 'stretch'. If the shock was too short for an application, it would be the limiting factor and thus it would limit suspension travel instead of the bump stops. The shock or the mount would eventually give way because it's not designed to limit travel. You are not in this condition so no worries. Now, did all that help any

I just ordered the keys for 2002. Did you need an alignment after you installed the new keys? I should have mine by the end of the week.

Yes, you need to have the front end aligned.
