im wanting to lower my truck about 3" in the front, and about 4" to 5" in the back. what should i do to get this kind of result. i dont want to spend much. i really dont want to spend more than 200 and i dont care about the ride quality all that much as long as it doesnt rattle your teeth out of your head.

 

doesnt anyone have any ideas for me.

 

Gonna cost a lot more than 200 unless you go cheap and get stuff off ebay or something.

If you peice stuff together sometimes you can get it cheaper.

For the front your gonna need drop coils or control arms. Coils are WAY cheaper. For the back you'll need shackles and hangers.
Gonna need new shocks and pinion shims too.


Coils...$130ish
shackle & hangar kit..$170ish
4 shocks..120ish
shims-20 bucks

And if you want to use control arms in front instead of coils, they cost about 500.

Or you can go with a kit, has everything you need will cost you about 400-500 bucks

Forgot, probably new bumpstops too, unless you can cut the old ones.

how would the ride be with that kit. for the price it looks pretty good to me.

 

The ride with the back will probably be close to the same since you are using the stock spring, the front, who knows. A lot of times lowering coils are a little softer than stock and it makes the front end bounce around more.

Remember you will need shorter shocks. Or possibly shock mount relocators.

 

what would happen if i didnt get shocks, wouldnt it just ride really rough. i could probably get those later on but all i know that it would do is make the stock ones wear out sooner.

 

Shocks would probably bottom out a lot. Wouldnt be a whole lot of travel left in them.

 

buy some 3 inch drop colil springs and if you want to go lower in the front then cut the coil springs and in the back buy the hangers and shackles and then take out a leaf spring and then you will have about 6 inches in the back

i have a 98 f-150 that i did that too and it dont ride bad no it dont ride like it did stock but it rides likes dropped! for everything it costed me around 275

 

Just watch ebay. I got a brand new DJM shackle/hanger kit for $49+$23 shipping and new 3 in Belltech springs for $100 (shipping included). $35 for the back shocks, $30 for the camber kit. The only thing I have not found are the front shocks.

 

i found some coil springs i can get 2 or 3 inch ones i will probably go for 3 and then im wondering about the rear. all i can find to lower the rear is shackles and hangers that drop it 4 inches. is that as low as i can go or if i want it lower is there something i can do to drop it a little more.

 

Any lower than 4 and you will probably have to notch the frame. If you dont theres barley going to be any distance for the axle to travel till it hits the frame. If you want to go 6 inches go for an axle flip kit. Or maybe some hangers and long JLP shackles. They come in 2, 3, and 4 inch lowering options. A set of those and some hangars would probably do the trick.
