Couple ?'s about lifting , gas millage and $$

I am trying to decide if I want to do a 3/5 drop and 18's or a 3" lift and 33's .
How much would gas millage be affected by the larger tires ( the 33's ) ? thanks

Also what is cheaper , lift or drop ?
How big of tire can I fit on the stock 1997 F150 Rim ?

2wd or 4wd? What is your stock tire size?

I get 11-12mpg with a best of 14.2mpg with my 03 Sueprcrew w/ 33" tires.

What engine and gears do you have? That would be the biggest deciding factor.

You can fit 285/75R16s (33's) on the stock rims with no problems (I believe you can go larger than that, but then you may start running into tread wear problems).

Well I don't know the gears since I have not purchased the truck . I am just doing some research first . Thankyou for the information . I am pretty sure I will not be going larger than 33's . and it would have the V8 engine for sure . either the 4.6 or 5.4 . How much of a difference is the gas millage between the 2 engines ? noticable ? thanks again .

well, typically I see higher MPG with the 4.6 (stock).

But once you start running the larger tires the 5.4 would be better. But as long as you get the V8 you should be good to go, both are good engines.
