4x2 suspension in a 4x4?

Since there are so many aftermarket suspension lift products out there for front end coil springs...has anyone looked into replacing the torsion bar suspension in their 4x4 SCrew with a coil spring suspension found in the 4x2's?

Would this be impossible?...too costly? Remember, we are talking about basically the same truck with totally different suspensions. Why did Ford give them different suspensions anyway?

I think it would be too costly to do on your own. Rockrawler Suspensions makes a suspension lift that converts 97-03 4x4's to a coilover shock suspension like the 04-05 trucks.

It will not work. The placement of the shock and coil spring in in the way of the halfshaft. You would have to relocate the spring and for that matter build a spring perch into the frame.
