2002 F-150 Supercrew suspension problems

I am having problems with the truck floating all over the highway.
The truck has just over 100 k on it,I installed a liftgate and deliver vending machines. When it is loaded is handles okay but eats up tires(cupping and low spots)
Please advise I was considering moving up two tire sizes from 255 to 275 or 285.The Goodyear tires I have stayed with since new are not holding up
The shocks are probably worn out but what should I replace them with.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

It sounds like you should get an alignment/get the front end checked out.

As for new tires, I would look at Michelin's.
Shocks, look at bilstein.

my screw has an extra burden on its nose and its a big handling factor.

i'd not consider loading the tail with a lift gate, i dont think the screw
is rated for that kind of load. its my assertion that the extra tail weight
is probly unweighting your nose and making it wander.

i dont suppose you could unbolt the lift gate and re test the handling?!

good luck, jackc...

Tires

If you are going to carry heavy loads all the time, I would advise you to buy LT (Light Truck) tires insted of P (Passenger) tires. LT tires have higher load ratings.

For Example;

P265/ 70-17 113 . For this tire the load index is 113, or 2535 pounds.

LT265/70 17 121 . This tire's load index is 121, or 3197 pounds.

The load index is the load carrying capacity for each tire at maximum air pressure. Multiply one tires load index by four to get your vehicle tires maximum load carrying capacity.
