Greasing new Moog ball joints

Thanks to so much useful information on this forum, I have successfully replaced original upper control arms and lower ball joints on my '97 Supercab ORP with Moog parts. Before putting this puppy on the road, I want to grease those new ball joints properly. What's a good rule of thumb for the number of pumps to give them? Should I just fill them until they ooze?

I used to give them all one shot of grease every oil change (3000 miles) which worked out to once a month. Any more than that and I ended up with grease everywhere.

Now that I've only got one grease fitting on the whole truck (idler arm) it gets greased once, maybe twice a year, but still at every oil change (every 5000 miles).

When you see the rubber boot start to swell, quit pumping.

Grease them until the boots are firm, like an "Old Fashioned" donut from Dunkin Donuts.

Did you put the lowers in the freezer before you installed them? If not, you will find they seat easier.

i agree, if the grease starts to come out that is too much and it now has a path to come out after you drive it around, just pump them till they get alittle hard or firm
