I have a 5.4L and it struggles alot. I've added a Volant Intake, and the Edge Chip tomorrow. Your gas mileage is going to be garbage, simple because you have less tourqe. If you do lift it just be sure to gear it and it will be fine. I really dont think it will be that bad. just my $.50

My truck has the 5.4l with 35's and if I could afford it I would re-gear. With your 4.6l you are really going to want to re-gear you don't have to but I would strongly suggest it.

i have a 2000 xcab with the 5.4, stock gears, and 6in fabtech but i still manage to break my 35s loose off the line if i try. i plan on changing gears soon though. with your 4.6 i would defenitly suggest regearing.

I'm with everyone else on this one, a 4.6 and 35s is a definite regear.

May want to weigh the regear versus a trade for a 5.4 with 3.73s. Suspect you would be much happier.

i'm just gonna get a 5.4L then. with way more power and better gears its worth it. how much of a difference am i gonna notice between the 3.73 vs the 3.55's? and the offroad package comes with rear limited slip ? so they have to say offroad package for it to have the limited slip?

You'll notice some improved acceleration (by the backside dyno) especially under load - better driveability too.

They do not have to be off road package, the LS is available as a stand alone option - you'll have to check the build codes on a used one.

My truck still burns em off the line and accelerates pretty good. But I would like it to accelerate a little better. My truck has 3:73's stock, when I run 35's I am only running a 3:30. When I regear it I am going to change to 4:56's then with 35's I will have a 4:04 ratio which will be much better than 3:30.

If you were to run a 3:55 ratio with 35's on it will be a 3:14, With 3:73 and 35's it's a 3:30. Not a huge difference but if you can get 3:73 do it.

i have a 98 4x4 f150, 4.6L, 6 inch fabtech lift, 35 inch tires, i didnt re gear my truck right away, i wasnt horribly disapointed in it either, ya it didnt haul ***, but i dont have a heavy gas pedal either, so it didnt bug me to much, i regeard to 4.56 awhile ago, and it does make a difference, bringing your truck pretty close to feeling like stock again. So i would suggest it, but if your ez on the gas, not regearing probally wont totally destroy your tranny, hopfeully lol

I am running 35", with a Fabtech 6" lift. I regeared to 4.56 front and rear. It's a wise choice to regear.

hey noirluispher where did you order your bilstien shocks from. i went to 4 wheel parts and they dont carry bilstiens and also told me that they might not fit with my 6in fabtech kit. also how do your rear shocks mount. mine have the studs on top...

i have 35's on mine with a 4.6. i originally had them on for about 6 months with 3.55 gears and it was pretty slow but it still worked. the gas mileage wasn't that bad, it just seemed worse because the bigger tires offset the speedo and odometer.

i then changed to 4.56's and couldn't be happier. the mileage isn't too bad as long as i keep it under 140km/h. at 140 and above i seem to get about 9mpg.
