Add a leaf. Blocks can break, and also like to make lots of axle wrap.

As a general rule, a lift block up to 4 inches is fine.

if you have a choice between the two i would do the add a leaf, there is nothing really wrong with a lift block tho, good luck

TOTALLY AGREE! If you use the factory 4x4 blocks, also get the ubolts(u need these) and the 4x4 shocks. I added these to my 4x2 with a 2" AS in the front and the ride is unchanged. My 4x2 is about the same high as a stock 4x4.

I have both on mine because after installing the 6" Procomp lift, the front sat way too high compared to the rear - at least according to my tastes. The rear block is 3" and I also put on some 4" Skyjacker add-a-leafs which really only took it up another 2 1/2". It's pretty close to level now, though. I haven't noticed any adverse handling or ride issues.

I always recommend springs. I've seen too many blocks get spit out due to mad axle wrap. Plus, if you already have the off-road package, you already have a block, and stacking blocks is not only a bad idea, but illegal in most states.

How can you guys say that a 2 inch block is bad? Or that it gets spit out. WTF that sounds so absurd. Heck Ford and other truck manufacturers commonly use the 2 inch block in the rear to create height. I would use the 2 inch block because its cheaper and just as durable.

So you would stack a 2" block on a 2" block?? As I already mentioned, not only is that illegal in most states, it only generates more axle wrap which can and does lead to other components failing.

no I wouldn't stack the two. I think the guy has a 2wd so adding a 2 inch block won't create a problem for him.

provided you have a

1) cast iron block

2) less than 4 inches tall

3) tapered

4) NOT stacking

you arent going to experience problems, unless you absolutely suck at installing your suspension or are producing a ridiculous amount of power (if you can afford the power you can afford a leaf pack) you have NOTHING to worry about. completely unmitigated fears

i run a 4" tapered cast iron block on my regular cab short bed f150, the shortest wheelbase ford offers. even before my traction bars i was FINE and you will be too

I went with a 6"

I have a 6" block on my truck. I've had no problems, drove it like I stole it, towed a large boat, and even bounced it around quite a bit off road. No issues although I did add traction bars. I'll admit though, I will be putting the 4" block back in eventually and installing the add-a-leaf to keep it level like it is now.
