1991 F150- loose steering

I have a 1991 F150 4" lift kit 33" tires.....

My steering is pretty loose. the wheel has a lot of play in it before the truck actually changes direction. Is there anything I can check or adjust?
THANKS!

check your tie rods, ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm. its a 91 so chances are something is worn out.one loose things affects everything else.

I jacked it up and suprisingly everything is tight as can be. The only thing I noticed was the pitman arm nut is a little loose(lock washer can move a little bit), But there are splines on the shaft so i don't think that is causing it, right?

Jacking anything up is not the best way to check steering components. Here is the method I use. Park the truck front tires going straight ahead on level ground or block the wheels so it can't roll.(for safety sake) On vehicles where turning the ignition key to lock locks the steering wheel, turn the key to free the wheels, but DO NOT START THE ENGINE. Get an assistant, have them put one hand at the 12 o'clock position on the steering wheel and move the steering wheel slowly and rythmically back and forth about 3 inches(1.5 inches each way from center) or whatever is comfortable in that range. While the steering wheel is being moved crawl under the truck and carefully look at all the steering joints that can be worn. A good way to do this would be to start at the pitman arm and follow everything from there. Take your time and inspect each joint carefully. This method works for me first time every time.

hes right when its jacked up the parts are not under any stress like they are under normal driving. you could have a loose tie rod for example and not know it.
