Are leveling kits not good for a 2WD?

I was talking to a guy at a local shop and he said they have had so many problems with leveling kits on 2WD that he won't install them anymore. I just ordered a AS 2.5" and am thinking about returning it. I was also quoted at another shop for $300 just for the install, that seemed kind of steep to me. What do you guys think?

yooo

i have an 05 screw 2wd, just ordered my as 2.5. everyone praises this leveling kit. only thing that happens with this kit are the ball joints wear pre maturely 20 k plus miles, my buddys at 58k miles with no problems. all depends on what kinda surface u drive and how hard u drive it. now to replace the ball joints, its 70$ an a arm including the ball joint, and its an easy install. more strenghts to this than cons. im installing the as 2.5 myself as did my friend in a bout 2 hours

I just searched through some topics and it seems that quite a few people have it on their 2WDs without problems. I think I'm going to go through with it..just gotta find a shop that does it for cheaper. Thanks again guys.

hey mozer, i just bought the kit off ebay, 82$ and some change total cost including shipped to my door. bummer i ordered it the day before thanksgiving haha, i have to wait till tomorrow or wednesday to get it. but u wont find it cheaper than that shipped to your door. its a very easy system to install. on my buddies, we just lifted up the front end took the front tires off, dropped the shocks slide the spacer in and bolted everything back up, between the two of us only took about an hour and a half, o and about 4 beers in between

I can't think of a reason it would be worse on a 4x2.

i have the 2.5" AS on my 2wd with no problems, only about 2000 miles but nothing seems wrong, just a little steeper angle. You can do the install yourself and save the $300 (that sounds really steep anyway, should be about 200) Also you will need an alignment after the install, which will cost you about $70 but thats the extent of it.

I have the 2.5" spacers on my 01 Crew Cap, they work perfect.

I also have 3.5" spindle lift....with a 2" blcok in the rear and an add-a-leaf

Running 315x75x16 Pro Comp Xterrains on 16x* Pro Comp wheels

Minor trimming nothing big at all.....adding a 3" body lift this christmas, and bigger tires when these wear.
