4" Rancho Lift

I was wondering if anyone had used the 4" Rancho with stock 20's and 33's. My dealer says that their is conflicting advice on wether it can be done with the 20" wheels. He say that depending on where you look is says that it is anywhere from fine to only with the 17-18" or not any of the factory wheels at all? HELPPP Pics would be nice as well.

Thanks

What is the backspacing of the stock 20's? If it is more than 6", then according to Rancho's website, they will not work. They list the max backspacing at 6".

I do know that the lift works with the factory 18's because I use my stockers in the winter.

Hope this helps.

All of the OEM wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing, the 20's are just wider.

Thanks for the info guys, (or ladies?).
Copenhagen848 I noticed that you are running 35"s on your truck. Do you notice any real severe power losses. I tow a car trailer probably maxing out in the 7000lb range and I was going to stick to the 33's to avoid too much power loss. I have read in other areas of this site that people thought that even with the edge they had lost tooo much poser to tow that kind of weight.

What do you think?
Ps your truck looks real sharp

Thanks for the compliments

I definitely lost power with the 35's. I have my Edge on level 2 right now...I haven't tried it on level 3 to see if that helps any. Even though I can tell a pretty big difference in power, it's not real bad...just a little slower when starting out.

I've haven't towed anything with my setup, so I can't speak for the towing performance yet.

Hope this helps a little

Yah that does help, I think I'll stay with the 33" tires. I have seen quite a few trucks on this sight with lifts up to 6" running 33's and I think they look good. So I may as well stick with them and avoid the power losses.

Or you could have your gears done and still have power with 35s.

well, i have 6" lift with 35's and the power loss i had experience is really nothing, then again it may depend on your engine size, my is a 5.4. it feels the same to me than when i was stock suspension/tires.

I noticed a severe torque decrease. I have 4.6L 5-speed manual with 3.55 and 35". With only about 2,000 pounds in my trailer I have to ride the clutch noticeably more when starting. I also have a '85 Ski Nautique, I'm guessing around 3500lbs (correct me if I'm wrong). There is no way that I will be able to pull it out of the ramp in 2 wheel drive. When I do finally get to use my boat, I'll have to put it in 4-lo to get the boat out.

.. Same here, I went with 5" lift and 315/70R/17 AT tires = 34.6" dia, just a little loss on take off , But stomp the gas and she moves...I have,nt towed yet but will be soon...And I found out that back spaceing and rims makes a big differance in tire to fender clearance...2001 5.4L lariat with 1715 micro maxx superchip tuner..Can anyone tell me why my photos are showing someone elses trucks, Ive started a gallery...

I did think about going the 35's and new gears route. But I figured it would also kill my gas mileage. I am running the 5.4 so maybe it wouldn't be all that bad?
