Re-clocking and rebalancing driveshafts - 6" lift kit

Im looking at the directions for my superlift 6" lift kit and it says that I have to have my front driveshafts rebalanced. It also says that I have to grind off a key in the cv's and rotate one of the 90 degrees so that they go back in, in the same orientation (reclocking). I was wondering if someone could clear up as to why I need to go about doing these two processes and can you rebalance them yourself? I did post this in the oem section by mistake before anyone tells me.

Thanks for the help in advance

The same has to be done with the fabtech 6" kit. I just left my drive shaft out and will have it done by Driveline Services sometime in the next month then reinstall it.

Yes it has to be done in order to use 4x4. If not you will probaly experience a terrible shake and it could lead to trouble with your 4 wheel drive system. If you don't have a place to rebalence and work your driveshaft just leave it out until you find a good place to do it.

The procomp kit does not need it but because the other kits need it I went ahead and did it. I dont know why procomp doesnt need it or how it would drive with out being reclocked as I did it when I did the lift. Also balancing is 60$ so be prepared for that, I took it in thinking like 10-20$.

What is the reason for actually having to do this? Are the directions refering to the dront driveshaft itself running from the transfer case or the front cv shafts because the directions make it sound like the cv shafts? Will I run into any problems by running the truck without the driveshaft or cv's installed while out getting rebalanced?

It is meaning to pull the slip end out and allign the u joints so that you get the most off angle from your u joints. I cant answer what will happen if you dont but procomp doesnt need it but I went ahead and did it. Easy to do but 60$ to balance

Driveshaft...

We ran into this issue also and when talking to Pro-Comp they told me that only 1 out of every 60 trucks or so develop this problem, Their new kit comes with a new driveshaft if you need one. Wouldn't you know it, just about every F150 we lift has the balance issue (it's more like 50 out of 60) So we just balance it know matter what so I know it won't result in a comeback. It is inexpensive when you sit back and look at the effects it could cause on the driveline! Spend the $ and you will never have an issue

Is there any companies out there that you guys would recommend, I can't really think of any around me that would do a special request like this.

Not sure where you're located but we have a company call Inland Truck Parts do ours. There's another company around here as well which does them called Precision Bilt but again don't know where you are.

Is this the case with all lifts because i put a skyjacker 6" on mine and the directions said nothing about this. Also when I contacted skyjacker they said it was not needed. So does this just pertain to certain brand lift kits or should it be done on all of them, If so what problems does this cause? Would there be something I would notice

I've heard of other guys who've lifted theyre trucks with other kits that say nothing about it rebalancing but still sending them out just for piece of mind. From what I'm getting out of all of this I guess in 4L there has been a handful of trucks that have experienced vibration issues that if left untouched can eventually lead to issues later on down the road. Im not 100% but thats just what Ive been getting by doing some research. NWAF truck looks nice man.

Does anyone know of any manufacuture that actually makes fender flares for a flareside truck because I cant find them anywhere, bushwacker only makes em for the regular style bed, WTF!

Didn't do mime and no issues. I'll have to ge read up on this, I'm thinking that reclocking the ends will make a driveshaft weaker???
