Leveling Kit Question?

Hey everyone two questions, I was wondering about a leveling kit for an 2005 Fx4, do you need to replace the stock shocks if a leveling kit is going to be put on? Then for my second question, I've seen various kits around the $200 range, although I have some noticed some on Ebay for anywhere in the $80-$110 range that are made by different shops and i am wondering if those custom made designs are to be considered reliable???? or is better to bite the bullet and dish out the extra hundred for something better known and trusted???????? Thanks for any insights!!!!!!!!

No, you don't have to change shocks. Most members here run the Autospring kit, which usually sells for around $100. There are a lot of copies of it selling for much more. Really, it's a pretty simple piece and it would be hard to make a bad one.

As always wandell is right but the Autospring 2.5" leveling kit is great I have it on my truck and I believe I paid about 85-90 bucks for it. You dont have to replace your shocks but I have been thinking about ordering some to replace the old stockers and if your truck ever starts to squat becuase you tow stuff alot, Autospring also has a add-a-leaf for our trucks. Hope this helps and cant wait to see your truck leveled out.

new tires for my truck

I really need help: I have a set of rims Moto Metal 951B 18 - 9.5 + 30mm off-set and Nitto Terra Grapplers 325/60/18. The problem is that I plan to install those tires in a 2004 super crew 4x2 (new body). I was told that a Moss leveling suspension strut ( that sells for about $199) will lift the truck up front 3 inches, and will allow me to place my 35 inches tires without rubbing any components front or back or side ways, Is this impossible to do , or am I on the right track?

well, just so you know the 325 60 18 is a 33.4 inch tire. I've got 5.5" of lift on the front of my 4x2 screw and clear 35s 4.5"bs, with light trimming. I think the 33's would clear on yours with just a hundred dollar autospring kit. (As long as you get the mm with 6.5" BS. wait for wandell though... he'll know for sure

I agree. It will be tight on a 4x2. First off, I would not go with a 3 inch leveling kit. 2.5 inches of lift appears to be the max with a leveling kit before the ball joint angles get too extreme. As Foxacrombie stated, 325/60-18's may fit if you get the wheels with 6 inches of backspacing, and even then it's gonna be tight.

I have the Topguncustomz 2.5" leveling kit and I have not had any problems with it. It was about $90 on ebay.

But you probably had to at least take it in for alignment right, or did you do that on your own too?

So I don't remember what the brand was (revo?? or something like that) but the shop quoted me $250 installed for that leveling kit. I've been reading that a lot of the forum folks like the Autospring but I guess they don't deal with that. So this sounds like a bit for that considering peeps are saying that you can get just the kit for $100. Any opinions? I was quoted around $185 installed for a leveling kit (unsure of brand) at LesSchwab. Thanks for the help

So is it better to get the polyurethane or aluminum parts for the leveling kit (if there is a difference)?

Akornz...do a search for level kit and you'll see the majority of us have the AS kit. It's around 90 bucks on ebay. The AS kit is steel. The poly one you are talking about is a spacer that goes in the coils if I remember correctly.
So 90 bucks for the kit, 185 for install = 275ish make sure that price includes alignment.
I did mine myself, then I think I paid another 80 or 90 for alignment.
