17in. rims with 6in. fabtech
#17
I dont know where you heard that 17s wont work. Heck, for a few days I was running stock 17" rims with 3157017s with a 6" Fabtech lift. Some ppl will tell you that since Fabtech has a much larger knuckle than factory, the factory rims will rub too much that you cant drive it. That was bunk. I did it. But who wants to keep stock rims when you can get btr looking ones. Anyway, 17s will work just fine with that set-up.

Ford changed brake caliper design sometime during the 2005 model year. Apparantly there were a couple of aftermarket 17 inch wheels that wouldn't fit over the brakes on late production 2005 and newer F-150's, but I havn't read any post on this in a while. I'd test fit one to make sure before mounting tires on them. Personally, I'd go with 18's because there is a better selection of wheels.

4X4Kid,
You are asking a good question because I know that with the 4" Rancho lift that I had put on, you can't run 17" OEM wheels due to the rims hitting the steering knuckles....you have to have less backspace for 17" rims to clear (I ended up going with aftermarket wheels with 4.5" of backspace which are working fine). I can't speak to the Fabtech lift but the best thing to do is to call Fabtech directly and see what they have to say.
Goodluck,
Doug
