Lifting an 03 Expy?

Hey fellas...got a pretty rediculous one for ya! I brought my truck home lifted, and well my mom's eyes got that big, and now wants her expy to be "barely fit in the garage" big. how can you go about raising a 03 exy 4x4 even if it has IFS/IRS????

i think the rize kit comes in two sizes a 6" and a 8".... if you get that plan on spending plenty of money!!! i think its like $6k+ just for the kit....

im pretty sure the front end of the Expedition is the same as an f150.... i might be wrong but you could get a 4" rancho and put a leveling kit in the rear.... i just pulled that out of my a$$.... hell it might work.

Thanks guys...I may look into the leveling kit on all four corners...that might work..Hey since its spring couldyou also put a spring spacer on all 4 corners? I think the 6-8" would most definately not fit in the garage...so thats out of the question...As far as after that how hard woudl it be to regear the sucker?

regearing something that you should leave to a professional it will cost around $1500 depending on the gears you want.

What size tires can you clear with spacers? 33x12.50s? 35x12.50s? I'd without a doubt look into regearing. I waited a long time before spending the coin on my 4.88s but I haven't looked back. It's a whole new truck. Cost for Precission 4.88s and a Mag-Hytec was $1600 OTD.

PS: I know this means next to nothing BUT! A guy in my town has a 2001 Expedition on a custom lift sitting on 38x15.50 Toyos. It's amazing.

The leveling kits are basically spacers. Daystar makes 2.5 inch spacers for the 03-06 Expy's. I don't know how big of a tire you could fit, but mine is at stock height with 305/45-22's (33x12.50) on 22x9.5 inch wheels with 6.7 inches of backspacing. I think a set of wide 33's, like a 325/60-18 would look great on some 18x9 inch wheels with a 2.5 inch lift.

Man...now I can't wait to get the money to regear MY truck...let-alone regear my mom's truck. Thanks for the imput guys...I will mention the 2.5 inch lift with some nice 33's would probably look pretty good, as I have seen 33's on the stock f150 rim's and look pretty dang good...probably be the same with the expy rims as well. I am glad I don't have to mention the rize 6-8" then I would have a smaller truck than my mom!
