That's better than wishing you had more lift later.

Wandell,

Do you still have the stock gears in her? When you went with the lift and bigger tires, did you feel a loss in performance or a large drop in mpg? Just curious, because I'm either going with a 33in with stock suspension, or I'm just gonna go w/ 35's with the 3in body. What do you think?

Thanks,

Yep, I've still got the oem 3.55 gears (with the 5.4 engine). I noticed a little power loss going from 33's to 35's. I really didn't notice a difference when I went from the oem 30 inch tires to 33's, but the truck was only a couple days old and I had barely driven it. I don't know what my mpg's were with the 33's because I didn't correct my speedometer/odometer. I now have it recalibrated and I'm getting right at 13 mpg (combined city and highway) with the 35's. You have to look at the big picture. With a 5.4, 3.55 gears and 35 inch tires, my performance is ok, but nothing to brag about. However, I rarely ever tow/haul anything. If I towed or hauled heavy loads regularly, I'd have stuck with 33 inch tires or regeared.

Thanks for the fast answer! Thats pretty much what I was expecting to hear. Im still up in the air about it. I think I picked your brain about your setup about 7 months ago. I still can't make up my mind haha. In a perfect world I'd put a 6 inch lift, tires, gears, lockers and the whole nine yards, but im married haha. So its either 35's with the body lift or 33's with the stock suspension. I trailer a small 5x8 trailer with my bike, every once in a while. I will most likely haul it in the bed of the truck anyways. The trailer was pretty much because I owned an SUV before my truck.

Honestly Im trying to look at the "big picture" but I'm still stumped. I know the easiest thing to do would be to throw 33's on, but I guess im just trying to find someone to talk me out of it and go with the lift and 35's haha. Maybe I'll figure it out one of these days.

Now what kind of tires is a whole new monster haha. bf goodrich at's or mts look like they work well.

Thanks for all the help man

I had a shop do mine, I am sure you have to lengthen lines though, just not sure which ones.

I just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents. I would recommend on getting the lift and 35's. It seems it is what you want. I made the mistake of settling for 33's and a leveling kit and I just wasn't happy with it. Later I ended up getting the 6" and 35's. I ended up waisting a lot of money.

If you get a Performance Accessories kit, it will contain everything you need.

all this truck has is just a 3 inch body lift, so is this what mine will look like, except that mine is not a 4X4.

Probably close to 3 inches lower. Basically, you will be the same height as a stock 4x4.
