Lower Rear 2005 Screw

I have a '05 Screw, and I would like to lower the rear of it down to level with the front. I know there are kits to raise the front to level with the rear, but for whatever reason I'd rather lower the rear(like the look of it better I guess). What would I have to do to complete this? Remove a leaf spring? I don't haul much with my truck, so not too worried about bottoming out.

Also, would this hinder control or improve it?

get a 2" shackle, if you want to still go further down take out your overload spring. Or you can get an Eibach 3" drop spring (replacement leafs) for it.

there are alot of good shackle brands, Ground Force is pretty popular. The replacement spring is made by Eibach. and any of the kits you choose can be found online, and sometimes used through sites like this one in the classifieds.

2" should put you close to level, but you may want to drop further....

I'm very pleased with the Ground Force 2" kit. It comes with the wedges to keep the differential lined up. Had it for about 2 years now. The rear is still slightly higher than the front, but I like it. Helps get rid of the huge wheel well opening.

BTW, it improved handling and there are pics in the gallery.

Yeah, once I had the proper terminology to start googling I started finding information. Unfortunately, since I have 4x4 it looks like I can only drop 1.5" in the rear if I went with a shackle. You recommend the springs then I take it if I wanted more to get level?

I think to get level it's 2.5" inches, or I'm assuming that since the front lift kits are that much. Thanks for the help guys.

If you have a 4X4, totally different deal. Your best bet is to remove the blocks in the rear. All you have to do is get the u-bolts for a 4X2 and take out the blocks.

do a search here in the forums. Look for "lowering 4x4" or "removing blocks".

Thats great, glad to be of help. Just a suggestion, if you would put the 4x4 on your profile, it will show up in the upper right hand corner and will help others assist you in the future.

Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of the stuff I've placed in my profile doesn't show up in that top right corner, think there's a character limitation. I should pry just create a sig to fix that issue.

You may be correct on that. yep, a sig would do it. good luck on the lowering. I think it really helps the look of these trucks, especially if you stay with stock wheels.

Yeah, I have some mods in now, but nothing too major, until I have the thing paid off and a secondary vehicle I don't want to get too crazy yet. I just bought some new tires on the stock rims, so they are definitely staying a while, didn't realize tires cost $1K these days, pry in no part thanks to the 18" rims.
