well, the ability to level the front with the rear, has become a big issue for me. im not one to alter or modify, but this 2.5"-3." differnce is giving me a nose bleed feeling like im nosediving, it sucks. visited my local 4x4 shop, where the shop has suggested udjusting the torsion bars is this correct procedure for proper leveling of the 04, heritage? why is there not an adjustment block like whats available for the rest of the f150's? thanks in advance, mrshadetree0222

 

Yes, you can crank up the torsion bars. You don't need a leveling kit because your ride height is already adjustable. There are companies selling leveling kits for the 97-03 and 04 Heritage Edition 4x4's, but they are just reindexed torsion bar adjustment keys. THese are a bad idea because they allow you to way too much preload on your torsion bars. This will cause increased wear and tear on your CV and ball joints and destroy your ride quality. Just crank up the preload with your oem adjustment keys and get an alignment.

why don't you just do it yourself? honestly, it's really easy. all that you require is a breaker bar and an 18mm socket. just crank each bar an equal number of turns, and measure the height on each side. whether you do it yourself, or somebody else does it, you'll need an alignment.

 

how long of a breaker bar would i need? i already have the 18mm socket.

 

sounds like something i could handle myself, i have the breaker bars, and and the socket, guess i could put white out line on the nut and count the revolutions. so as long as i match the number of revs. per nut then i should basically keep them the same on both sides. im very mechanically incline, so i dont belive it to be too difficult. thanks i never though of doing it myself. any risks i should worry about by doing it myself?

 

That's about it. Also, it's not unusual for the two torsion bars to have different amounts of preload.

 

when i do level this thing out myself, do i need it jacked up on stands or do it on the ground? thanks mrshadetree0222

 

You can do it either way. I lifted the front of mine before cranking mine up.

You can easily fit those without leveling the truck.

i just visited my local tire store today and got a quate to get the front leveled, and a set of 285-75-16 bfgoodrich's a/t ko and a front end alingment if i pay for the tires and the aalingment then i get the leveling free, not to bad of a deal i guess. their price is $917.50 hows this comparing to rest of the market for the same job out there? hows the tire prices comparing?

i just gave a guy the first 100$ to order my kit and will pay another 244 when it's done. if i can adjust it obviously i don't want to pay for a kit i don't need.. please help.
