FX4 is the off road package. Includes factory skid plates, supposedly better shock absorbers and stickers on the bed. Also has an exclusive interior with fake carbon fiber dash inserts and its own instrument cluster. Otherwise same truck.

I forgot, I believe the 18" wheels with the holes in the spokes are also exclusive to the FX4.

it also has sport black leather with white stitching, which is what sold me on it. It also has a slightly different instrument cluster as well.

You cant go wrong with either one. For me it was a matter of what I thought would look better lifted. I had Lariats, XLT's, FX4's, Supercabs/crews in various colors lined up in the lot. After about 1 hr of pacing, I chose my silver FX4 and Im glad I did.

fx4= also has limited slip standard, upgraded shocks, skid plates, different cloth interior and optional center shift sport buckets. Color matched front and rear bumpers as well. 17s standard with optional fx4 18in and 20in wheels.

Lariat adds digital climate control, leather, 18s are standard with 20s as an option, upgraded mirror package, I'm sure there are a few things I'm missing. If you go with a fx4 luxury package it will give you everything a lariat has.

Sure can.

The Lariat is geared more towards "luxury" per say. It comes with woodgrain interior, leather, 18" wheels, electronic climate control, message center. The FX4 comes with skid plates, FX4 stickers on the bed sides, carbon fiber interior trim, skid plates, and LSD is a standard feature ( I believe ). The shocks are a little different but they are not Ranchos. They are a little stiffer and ride a little worse on the road. However you can get options from both except you have to go with the FX4 Luxury Pkg to get the electronic climate control. I think that's the best way to go now a days.

It depends on what year you are talking about,on my 03 that was stolen from me,yes it had Rancho shocks from the dealer, electronic shift 4X4,the only thing this truck did not have on it that comes with the Lariat package was the leather seats, and I could have gotten those if I wanted them.My brother had an 03 Lariat at the time I had my FX4,and we compared alot of differant things on them. Both had 17'' wheels, both had everything power inside, the FX4 did not have turn signals on the mirrors,so besides the shocks and the skid plate, and leather seats, they were the same truck,oh,I forgot, the pretty little FX4 sticker too.

I was just looking through my 08 F150 brochure and the limited slip is standard on the FX4 and optional on the Lariat. I just learned today how nice it is to have a limited slip diff. I was driving on some back country snow covered hilly rods today and was climbing those hills just fine in 2wd. I was quite impressed.
