Popping under front end

I have the occassional popping in the front end when turning. When I go to back up from setting still, sometimes it will pop but not always. I never hear it after I get going, only after setting for, say 8 hours. I figure it's the ball joints in the steering and need greased but I know they do that when I get the oil changed....I make sure they do.

Any other thoughts?

My truck actually did it when I bought it new...twice that I could recall. I new it was useless to take it to the dealership since it would not do it again on demand. Now it does it quite often...once a week maybe.

i had the problem when i first put a leveling kit on my truck, what i found out was that with the spacers it put my wheels closer to my shocks, and the joint would rub against my shocks when making a big turn

Check the tie rods and ball joints. Search on here for the procedure, but there should be not internal movement like the ball part feels smaller than the cup part. A worn one feels and acts like the ball part is smaller, hard to explain without showing was is bad and what is a good one. Either way, popping in the front end is no fun and should be checked out very soon. Trust me.
