I too can't decide whether to take them off or not. I don't really use them that much because hell I'm 19 and I'm 6ft haha I may take mine off and see how it looks and drive with it for a while like that. I can always put them back on, after all it's just a few spins on the 1/2" impact away

Of course it is all personal preference. I prefer no steps..... I like the cleaner look.

I just took my running boards off, hated the look. Now if somebody made some quality rock sliders that weren't very noticeable, I'd put those on in a heartbeat.

ha ha ha... man those DO look great IMO but it still says pavement pounder. Not that your is (clearly) but its just the image it gives off. Its alright, I wash my truck and maintain it OCD status. not a scatch (for too long) or a dent. More shine to her then 4 years ago when she rolled off the floor.

Its just my opinion tho. Like I said i really like em, but what happen if it comes down on a rock ? What about a deep water crossing ? What about going through a muddy **** field and getting mud caked up there ? ? ? How protected are the electronics from water, rocks, and mud ? ?

(love the truck BTW)

I may put the AMP Research steps on mine eventually. I personally like the clean look of not having steps. In the mean time I have a folding step stool that fits perfectly under the back seat. Ive only had to use it for my mom. Not having steps is a great excuse to grab on to the hotties and put them in the truck yourself. Its been easy for me because I dont mess around with the fatty's

As far as coming down on a rock, I see where your coming from.

But as for the deep water crossings, been through it, and I get mud thrown up on them every week (Ranch).

The motor and electronics, are actually protected by the step itself, high up connected to the side of the frame. They are very sturdy steps, as though they may not seem like it but they can hold up to 800lbs.

Very good High quality steps, I would highly recommend them.

hmm... thats good to know. Like I said, I really like the look of them, but I have already set my truck on her belly a couple times. It usually just bends the brackets for my step bars... buy/make new ones and good to go.

Thanks for chiming in with actual first hand knowledge of them, its appreciated.

i wish they made/sold those power steps with out the "power" part.. (motor).. i wish they could just bolt on and then you could fold them down, or put them back up or hide them when offroading or something..

i always liked those things since they came out.. but when im drivin around the city i wouldnt mind them staying down, but when i go offroad i would want them up so they dont catch anything or any issues liek that..

but then i think about the step bars, and you guys are so right about body protection.. and if you got back ones, and they got scratched or something from a tree/rock, you could just paint it.. like that idea..
