Could I?

since my 2000 f150 4x4 has only torsion bars in the front and just shock absorbers ( no coil springs)... i was thinking of a way to level it out...

since i dont like the idea of cranking the torsion bars and normal leveling kits have a coil spring spacer, could i fit a bushing or spacer (smaller of course... like 1 in diameter and in height) on the top of the shock in between it and its mount (about an 1.5inches of threads sticking out of space that a spacer could possible replace)?

sorry if that woudlnt work or sounds dumb... im having my own doubts, i figure it would just compress the shock more than anything...
thanks anyway

The shock are designed to keep the tires on the ground, they won't give you any lift, unless you get shocks designed for that, like coil overs.

Right. Why don't you want to crank up the torsion bars? You can level your truck and the only cost is a front end alignment when you are finished.

Yup cranking the torsions or re-keying them is the only way to life the front.

I would stay away from the reindexed torsion bar adjustment keys.

You should be fine as long as you don't go crazy.

I've had my torsion bars cranked up as far as they will possibly go on two different trucks now with a combined mileage of 175,000 miles. Never replaced a single CV, joint, or anything!!

Like Wandell said, re-indexed keys is a Chevy thing. Not needed and a waste of money on our trucks.

Like you said, shimming your shock will only compress it. But don't do that either way as you will limit your shock travel. Bad idea. Shocks don't lift anything. Think about it...you can take a shock absorber and compress it with your bare hands. What makes you think that same shock is going to lift a 5,000 lb truck??

You have two options and only two options to raise your truck...crank the torsion bars or get a lift kit. (body or suspension...your choice)
