Do It!
I put on my body lift myself over a weekend, and that was while I was helping a friend swap out a complete exhaust on his '90 5.0 stang. I would definatly do it again on another truck in a heart beat. It's soooooo much easier to change plugs and COP's and theres a lot of little things are are easier to work on and stuff like that. Other than the looks there are pluses to getting it done.

Well thats the thing they are cheap , why are they cheap? . Are you deciding not to take the correct direction ? Save up for quality and well engineered lift kits . Well ,engineered enough for what you guys tend to use them for .

700 is an amazing quote for an 04+ kit and install. I have heard of 1000 for install alone because it takes so long to do. If you really want a BL i would jump all over that right now.
Body lifts are cheaper than suspension lifts because suspension kits include shocks, crossmembers, blocks, steering knuckles, brackets, and such. Body lifts are formed polyurethane spacers and mounting hardware, which is obviously much cheaper to produce.

You're always going to get the anti-body lift guys out there. Don't let it discourage you. They look great and can even give you a surprising amount of clearance when you add larger tires. I've had them on 2 trucks, one was totaled in a 20 car pile up and without the body lift on it, things would have been a ALOT worse without it. They have gotten a bad name in the past because people would make homemade ones out of Hockey Pucks and 2x4s.
As Wandell stated, there is nothing wrong with them if installed properly. I'll at least have a Body Lift on every truck I own. I'd rather have a suspension lift, but when money is tight, Body Lifts are a great alternative...
BTW - $700 is a really good price on the 04+s, is that just labor or does that include the kit?
