Need Help with Lift Choice
Hey Guys,
Im new to the site! I just purchased a 2005 F-150 CC lariat 4x4 and its time for the mods to start.
I plan to lift the truck 6"-8" and run a set of 20" wheels with 35" tires.
I have been reading all of the lift threads on here and Im trying to decide what would be best for me. The truck will be mostly a DD and will see a little off-road use when I hunt, but 90% will be on road.
From what I have read I think the best 3 are the Pro-Comp, the Fabtech and the Rize.
Which do you guys think would work best for my situation? are there any others you think might be better?
Thanks for any help!

I think the general answer when this question comes up is that if you are already considering the 8" in your choices, then you should probably go with the Rize or CST. Most people regret not going bigger when they had the chance. Of course that means you will have to bump up your tire choice to a 37 or 38, but it is well worth it.
For your driving habits, it seems as though any of the 3 you mentioned would be fine.

The tire size is going to be 35", I just sold a superduty on 38"s before I bought this truck and I have a 4 week old baby girl, that was part of the reason for selling the superduty was to downsize for a little while to make things a little more baby friendly.
The wife wants me to leave it stock, but I can't roll that way so this is my idea of a compromise..ha ha

If you're set on 35's then go with 6". I'd go Fabtech personally.

How about your parking situation?? When I was shopping for a lift, my truck still being able to fit in the garage was non-negotiable. Thus, that left me with a 4" and 33's.
Side note...ALWAYAS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS budget for gears when doing a lift kit/bigger tires. Even if you only go with 35's!!

I am/was in the same situation as you. I just had a new baby (well, 15 mo. ago) and got a new 4x4. The wife didnt want me to lift it at all seeing it was already tall being the 4x4 s-crew. But like you, I needed something a little differnt. Because money was kind of an object with the new little one, I chose to go with the fabtech kit ($1500), 2" front spacers ($100), 1.5" AAL for rear ($150), and Fabtech dual stearing stabilizer ($150)
I now sit 8" higher with lift, and about 3"higher due to the difference from stock tires to the new new 18" Procomp Xtreme A/T's. It is used mostly for pavement too. But I feel I have a quite capable offroad vehicle as well.
I guess all in preference. I do not feel that I need ot regear at all nor do I think I lost much power with the bigger tires. I als othink thr 35's look really good with the 8" lift and not a huge fan of putting the biggest tire that will fit. I like the look of a little space in betweeen...Just my opinion though. There are a LOT of great looking trucks on here with 35s and 37s on an 8".

Racefan..the truck looks great...Mine is white also.
Are those procomp stryker wheels?..I was looking at those, they look good. that's my next task is to try and pick out wheels for the truck, I'm not finding alot of them that do much for me.
I'm trying to do some research to find someone who has run 20x12" wheels on these trucks. While I know that's not a look that most people like I happen to love the look of fat tires, pizza cutters just don't do it for me but to each his own.
