Grease from idler arm

I was under my 02 F-150 today changing the oil and I noticed that there was a big glob of black grease where the idler arm connects to the steering linkage. This is a relatively new arm and has the grease zerk at this joint. I didn't have a flashlight to give things a good look, is this normal or do I have a bad part? Usually grease leaking from a ball style joint is bad, maybe the last tech to touch the truck just put in too much grease?

Assuming this is all normal I was going to grease the suspension. The new parts with zerks have only been installed for a few months, I haven't greased a suspension in decades. What type of grease should I use?

It's probably just excess grease where someone got carried away. Wipe it off and see if it reappears.

I guess I'll just keep an eye on it.

I was going to grease it because it's been on there for a while now with no attention, what type of grease should I get? I hope my grease gun still works after all these years .
