Question Fabtech or Procomp?

Okok.. the big debate is back again, but please hear me out.

I just bought a 2008 F-150 FX4 SuperCrew and I'm looking to buy a 6" lift. Question is, which lift is more worthwhile to purchase? I'm looking at both of the basic lift kits from Fabtech and Procomp. The Fabtech is priced around $300 more but is it worth it?

I've noticed that the Procomp doesn't use any shocks in the front while the Fabtech adds new shocks? How will this affect ride quality? Procomp also doesn't seem to have a steering stabilizer and I'd feel cheap miss-matching with throwing in a Fabtech steering stabilizer.

All things considered, this truck will probably never leave the pavement, and is primarly (99%) driven through town, so which lift is better for me? Please explain. (btw, where's the cheapest place to buy the Fabtech kit?)

Well first off, the basic fabtech is better than the basic pro comp because the fabtech gives you all new shock, unlike the pro comp which throws in a big ol 6" spacer on top of the existing coilover. Since you dont off road it wouldnt really matter for you, just depends on if you want to know you have qaulity parts or not and how much you will spend.

You dont need to have steering stabalizers for the 6" lift but they will slightly help, so ive heard. I dont personally think you need them though.

Overall the fabtech would be a better choice for a lift and everyone on here will agree. You get what you pay for.

Or you could just go ahead and go bigger and get the 8" Rize or 8" CST.

If you have anymore questions ill be happy to help

Thx for the info seth.

I'm pretty set on sticking with 6" lift, just making the final debate on which to choose. Already purchased 35" tires 20" rims, just need to lift it all up.

If I'm primarily driving through town, would bump steer be an issue? Even so, when would I notice anything like bump steer without the stabilzer?

Is there any noticeable difference in drive quality with the Fabtech/Procomp on the streets?

I have the PC Stage 1 and have no issues with it at all. I, like you, drive mostly pavement. Not many places to go off-roading where I live. I actually like the spacer (for now) because my ride quality is exactly like it was stock (pre-lifted). Also, when installing the lift, if you are doing it yourself, you don't have to worry about compressing the coil spring to install the new shocks. Just bolt on the spacer and you are good to go. You can always upgrade to Bilsteins down the road and replace the spacer, as I plan on doing sooner or later for an additional 2" of front lift.
Plus, I got my kit from eBay for approx. $1172 shipped to my door.
I have no issues driving around without a steering stabilizer, and I have mud tires. Bump-steer is a non-issue, as in, I haven't noticed it.
Either kit will work fine for you - just depends on how much money you want to spend. You can also get a really cool Pro-Comp skid plate that looks pretty good. That is going to be one of my next upgrades when the funds allow.

Both are good kits. The Fabtech is slightly higher quality however.

It sounds as though the ProComp will be perfect for what you are going to use it for.

Nope - No rubbing and no trimming at all. I can go full lock with no issues. Haven't tried full lock off-road on uneven surfaces to see if it changes anything.
Mine is 17x9 with 4.75" bs so you should be fine with 17x8 and 4.5" bs I would think.

That's where I got mine. I checked the feedback, even called them up to make sure it was a real company and they also answered my email replies quickly and professionally. So I went for it. Didn't have any issues.
