4x4 OFFROAD or FX4

Ok I have a 2000 4x4 OFFROAD ext cab. Is the suspension the same as a FX4 edition. A buddy told me yes it is the same, but ford only started using the FX4 in 2001. I only ask this cause my truck sits higher than other ford 4x4's that dont have the FX4 option. I have the optional 2657017. Can someone please help me figure this out.

The suspensions are the same. To my knowledge

However with the front suspensions being adjustable that might be why you are taller than the others.

not sure what the 2657017 is??? lol

do you have any pictures of the truck?

BTW have you seen the 99 Fx4 Extreme Duty? They are taller than f250's

I was under the impression that the 4x4 off road and the FX4 was basically the same thing, just a new name for the same thing. Maybe someone who is more knowledgable on the 97-03 body will chime in and clarify.

That is what I figured (them being the same thing). I really want to get the FX4 badge for the side. Are those hard to peel off and put back on?

The Off Road package was renamed FX4 in 2002. The only differnce was new wheels (the same 17x7.5 inch size however), a different decal and the shocks were painted white and branded Rancho. The shocks were valved the same because the parant company of Rancho already made all of the Motorcraft shocks.

Ok all this talk is confusing me. My truck has the Fx4 and Off Road both on the side. These are the stickers that came with the truck. No additional stickers were added.

That is fine, my question was if the suspension was the same from the years 2000 to an 2002 FX4. Only because mine has the 4X4 offroad sticker on the side. But I found the answer that the FX4 sticker took over the 4X4 sticker in 2002.

all 4x4 f150s sit the same height unless some modification has been made. EVERYTHING is the same except for the different LOOKING shocks.

although i have noticed all my bushings are red. i bought the truck used. is that a stock option on the fx4?

thats not true because my 97 4x4 off road that has no skid plates has 3 leaf springs and sits about 2 inches lower then other 4x4 off roads

Keep in mind that the torsion bars seem to be adjusted differently on each truck.

also, bear in mind that there are different length torsion bars, the 7700 series having the thickest, and longest ones of all. early F-150's w/ the E4OD (97-98) received them as well to clear the larger transmission.
