Want to add 44" tires. How?
#31
get a 12 rize or 12in bullet proof or a 14in Full Trottle. add a 2.5in coil spacer, then a 3in body, that would easily be enough.
Tires you can buy military tires for like 300 for all 4, their 46in with 20in rim..
Does this make since? 12 in.+2.5in.+3in.= 17.5in. of lift..

If I had your truck and 5 grand to put in to it this is what i would do:
#1. 6 inch lift(I'm assuming 2wd) companies like fabtech and skyjacker make 6inch kits for your truck for less then $1600 each. try this site:Topguncustomz.com
#2. 35 inch tires with w.e wheels you want. Your choices here are nearly endless. There are a ton of companies that make 35inch street, all terrain and mud tires. If it was me I'd get 35 inch mudders on 18s or 20s. Try this site: Customwheelsdirect.com
This alone you could do for around 4 grand depending on what you get
Then you have spare $1000 to do w.e you want such as exhaust or an intake.
And personally i don't think regearing is necessary for 35s. I know A LOT of people that own a truck just like your with 35s and stock gear and some that even run 37s with stock gears and have no problems other then the fact that they lose a lot of power and mpgs.
Honestly with the money you have to spend with the truck you have I think you get get yourself a super nice sunday driver. If I was in your shoes I'd be stocked yo have that truck with 5 grand in my pocket for mods there are so many possibilities
P.S And yes I also think 44s are waaaaay out of the question.
Good luck

Sorry guys, I havent been home to get on the internet. I want to do the biggest possible for my truck with the amount I am able to spend (christmas bonus) of 5 G. I will only drive this truck on road. I have a company truck that I put about 6000 miles a month on, so this will just be my sunday truck. I have always dreamed of having a so called monster truck. Mine is a 4.6 with a 273 rear end i believe bought in virginia.
I know this isnt the right motor or rear end. just want to have a big truck...lol

i have the 4.6 and 3.73, i believe mercedes tech does as well. if you do a 6" and 35's you WILL need programmer, intake, exhaust unless you regear. my truck had trouble getting on the interstate before i programmed it. now it pulls pretty all the way to the end of 2nd gear (89 mph!!!) programmer is 400. intake is 250-300. exhaust (anywhere from 80-400) if you do just muffler and pipes.

right now my truck has flow master duel exhaust, had it when i bought it. I got a armorthane bedliner put in it today. it cost me 371.00
I am almost positive they told me 273 rear end and that it was a high way truck when i bought it. it gets like 20 mpg.. honesty i dont care if it get 4 mpg once i lift it and put the tires on it. I am okay with that as i will only drive it 3 days per month.
I am just ni-eave about this, so i am asking for help.
I just want a big truck with mud grapplers or thornbirds.. I like the mud tires with ***** on the side walls.. does anyone have a photo of what a stock tire and a 35 inch tire look like side by side?
This would help me better decide.

Tires:
I too have the 4.6 with 3.73 Our rear ends don't come with 2.73. 3.18 is the highest I have seen the gear ratio go on these trucks.
I am running a 6" lift, 35" tires, all stock engine, adjusted shift points and I tow regularly with it. It does fine, and has plenty of pick up to get on the streets. I can even light my tires up if I really want, but I am afraid I'm gunna bust my tiny rear end (8.8 isn't all too big).
Here, check out some of these pics:

click around, you can see some before and after pics, some side by side tire pics, and other random pics. I really like these trucks up on 35" tires, and for your appliaction, I think that would be your best bet. Run a 6" lift and 35" meats. You can always upgrade later. It was also allow you to stay within your budget (easily). If you have to pay for install, might go over a little, I am not sure.

If you plan to keep your rear end, but you want to re-gear, then your looking to spend close to $1500 for labor and parts, and that would be front and rear.
Yes, you need the gear ratio fairly close. Its doesn't HAVE to be exact, but its the best bet. If your gear ratios are too far off, your truck will essentially pull apart, or be squished together by your front and rear going at different speeds.
Here is some good reading for you:

Oh, and your welcome for the pics....

Honestly man anything bigger than 35's on a 1/2 ton is just dumb if you plan on wheeling the truck. As anything bigger you spend more time in the shop than on the trial also if you know how to drive than you will get just as far with 35's than 37's. If you just want a show truck and lift it. Than go and sell your truck buy a older diesel already lifted and take the money left over and go buy some diesel for it!
