Introducing/Ques

First off let my introduce myself since I am new to this forum. My name is Duff and I'm from PA. I just recently bought a 1997 Ford F150 XLT Supercab.

I have an appointment to take the truck in to get a 6in Fabtech suspension lift installed. I am very new to the off road truck game. So I have a few questions that maybe you gents might be able to help me with:

How much usually does the install cost? place quoted me 750.00

I plan on running this setup for wheels and tires: Nitto 315/75R16 Terra Grapplers with Ultra Wheels Margun Chrome 16x10. Will I have any fitament issues with these? Anything I should make sure of before purchase? Does anyone know what the actually width of these tires will be?

I want a pretty wide tire but dont know what exactly to look for to tell the width.

Then with the 6in suspension lift will i actually get 6 inches higher than stock? Then with the tires possible an extra 2-3 inches, correct?

Any help will be appreciate.

Thanks,

Duff

Welcome to the site Duff. I'm going to move your thread to the Suspension forum as I think you will get more views and answers there, concerning your question.

a 315/75R16 comes out to (correct me if i'm wrong) 34.6 inch talls and 12.4 inches wide which is essentially a 35x12.50.

Right, they are basically a 35x12.50 tire. You picked a good combo. I believe the Fabtech lift will lift the front of your truck 6 inches and the rear either 3 or 4 inches. This is so the truck will sit level when finished.

The price for the install depends on hourly labor rates in your local market. In California, Stillen quoted $99 an hour for an 8 hour install.

35" tires sounds just about right for a 6" lift. You still have to think about the wheels and backspacing. A quick call to Fabtech will answer all your questions about fitment. Some shops will just try to sell you on what they have in stock, as opposed to selling you the right wheel. 10" wheels could be too wide for your lift. The wheels and tires may stick too far out and cause problems when turning.

Ok, guys this is the information that I got. the grapplers with the 16x10 rims with negative offset will work fine. I'm getting the lift for 1810.00 with 750.00 for install. The rim and tire package I'm getting hook up with are 1057.00 so we are looking really good. I'm getting the tires and rims next thursday and getting them mounted on the rim and filled with nitrogen. The rims are gonna be polished so I can buff them out after the winter and they will look fine.

Then finally i'm taking the truck in for the install of the suspension lift on the 10th of November. Two day install and i can have the truck back prob the 12th or the 13th.

I don't have any experience with northern winters, but there are hundreds of posts here about polished aluminum wheels and roadsalt. Apparantly polished aluminum doesn't hold up well at all during harsh northern winters. Just trying to give you a heads up.
