Solid axle conversion......

I have an 87 f-150 2wd...im converting to 4wd..i am gonna buy a 1/2 ton solid axle....will the ones form 70's model trucks be the right width??????anyone know

If I remember correctly my 79 d44 is around 66"s wms - wms. I would suggest that with the weight and hp of the f150 that you go with a d60 though if you want to run larger than a 36. Also assuming that the reason for the swap is for more hardcore offroad use the d60 becomes even more appealing. I'm doing an SAS on my 93 explorer with a d44 and i'm not going run larger than a 35 because of the strength.
