Lifted Truck Steering Alginment

So when I first put my lift on my truck I had it aligned but when I drove it away from the shop, my truck would drift to the right when I held my steering wheel straight. I took it back and they said they would fix it. Eventually they told me they made it better but because of the truck being lifted, it would never be perfect.

So I have been driving for a year now with the steering wheel slightly to the side. Are these guys just full of it or is there a place I can go to where they would be able to get a proper alignment on the truck.

Thanks

Next time you get an alignment done, ask if you can sit in the truck. Therefor, you can hold the wheel to what you think is straight and the alignment is done with your body weight in the truck, thus a more accurate alignment.

Have any of you ever had this problem before? Don't you think they should be able to do a proper alignment without me having to sit there and hold the wheel?

I got mine done at a NTB - They will realign it for free for a year - The first place I took it to didn't have the equipment to align a truck with a lift. Maybe the place you took it to didn't either? I'd get a second opinion. Truck looks good BTW

they should align it perfectly, i got an alignment today, because i cranked my coilovers yesterday, i had them align it when i first lifted it and i never had a single problem, my wheel is always striaght, it never drifts or anything and i have 37's on 20's.

Any place in particular you suggest to get it aligned? This was at a goodyear tire shop. I assume that 4 wheel parts would do it pretty well, but they be really expensive?

It sounds like the guy who did your alignment doesn't really know what he's suppose to be doing. 4WheelParts did my alignment as part of the lift kit installation package. I have no problems what-so-ever. That was at my local 4 Wheel Parts Performance Center. I have no idea what kind of service you'll get at your local shop, since they have such a bad rep.

I have no issues with mine, and this is th ethird truck I have lifted. I have an 8" with 37s and no issues. So maybe try somewhere else. It could be off enough to where you will scrub your tires and wear them prematurely, and I think you know hwo expensive these tires are top be throwin money away.

4 wheel parts should be able to fix your problem. over here they charge $105 for an alignment....not sure about the west coast.

I called around and 4wp charges about 112 for an alignment, but outlaw offraod charges 85. I have never done business with outlaw offroad but from what I have heard, they seem to be fairly reputable. Anyone used them before?

I was at my ford dealer the other day, they had a sign up for 30.00 ish dollars for alignments. I would try that, you know that they have the right equipment, and most of the mechanics know what they are doing. I plan on installing my 2" AS kit this week i will let you all know how ford did.

Great idea. Ford also sends out coupons for alignments. Ford did my alignment after the leveling kit.
