I would not go over 2.5 inches of lift with a leveling kit because of the extreme ball joint angles they create.
You can fit 33's or 35x12.50's on a 4x4 by using a 2 or 2.5 inch leveling kit and your oem wheels.

so the 3" leveling kit she got would be bad?....when you say extreme ball joint angles what exactly does that mean? i mean will the tires fall off or something break?...

The tires will not "fall off" unless your ball joints come apart. If you look at some of the pictures of installs they will show you ball joint angles. I put a 2" on my truck because of the angle the 2.5" and 3" put on the joints. There are guys on here that have 2.5 and 3" that will tell you that it is okay. Then there are some that will tell you otherwise. Anything over 2" really puts the joints on a major angle and can surely create some major issues. This just my two cents take it for what you will...... Good luck at whatever you do.....

their are a few people on the site that run 3" without any problems at all so if i had it already bought i would put it on with 35x12.50

I will warn you though that without some sort of aal or something for the back i do believe the 3 inch leveling kit will make you high in the front. I have the 2.5 and its about perfectly level, so I'm pretty sure the 3 will make you high in the front.

The problem is anytime you increase the angle of the ball joints, you increase wear (meaning they will wear out faster). On top of this the life span on ball joints on the 97-08 F-150's is pretty short to begin with. Mine were replaced at about 60,000 miles and my truck is never off roaded or abused.
