Steering stabilizers

Can someone explain to me the benefits of adding steering stabilizers to my truck? Is it something that will make the truck handle/drive better? I have very little tire shimmy now so do I even need them? Thanks.

I got the kit for bumpsteer and it made a world of difference. I never really had the shimmy so I can't comment on it.

I have one on my truck and I like it because it really eliminates the bumpsteer and makes the steering seem smoother

Yes they do make a difference on a "non-lifted" truck. I have a dual cartridge kit on my 98 Expedition(4X4,Towing Package);which was installed after I got some 20" wheels.
I first installed such a kit on a 1986 Ford Bronco, and I liked the difference in handling. I had also installed polyurethane bushings (where appropriate) around my undercarriage.
I got my cartridges from J.H Whitney (check under Suspension/Handling), but there wasn't a specific mounting kit for the Expedition Series, but I used the same unit specified for the F-150 Truck. I made my own brackets since none were available for the Expy's.
I do very little "off-roading" ;since I am primarily a high-way driver. However with the poor road conditions in the North East;particularly NJ, and PA the need is still there for pot holes, and ruts and bumps. They don't really cost that much for either a single or dual cartridge kit, and can help soften the blows to the pivots, and joints.

Well got mine on tonight . Very easy to install. Took me about 1.5 hrs ,even with dinner in between. Took it for a test drive and I do feel the difference. Less bumpsteer, It definitly feels better. Check out pics.

I really want a set but dont know if they would fit on my truck with stock wheels. I have a 2.5" leveling kit with 35" pro comp extreme a/t's. I found them for $47 for one satbilizer but thats without the mounting brackets. I was thinking of buying two and fabbing up my own bracket since Im gonna have to do some modifications to get it to fit correctly anyway.
