My vote goes with the trade for 18's and getting the 35x12.5's......

I think your OEM wheels and tires are going to look funny with the lift. You're not gonna get much for the 20's I wouldn't think. Enough to buy some rims though I guess. The cost of the tires is gonna be above and beyond the wheels though.

Now that I think about it.....

I change my vote to keeping your OEM 20's, selling your tires and buying 35x12.5's. The money you get for your tires will contribute to the 35's fund. I think you'll get almost as much money for seperating your tires as you would for selling the rims/tires together.

That's true... I would probably get a better deal if I sell the tires I have now... But I think the Pirelli's only run something like 150 brand new... not that it matters I guess.. any money I could get out of them would be better than none if I decide to stick w/ the 20's and buy 35x1250's

why not get the rancho? i have heard people who are patient getting everything for about 1k. your bl you said was 800 i think. keep stock wheels/tires for a while and get a suspension lift. you will have perfect angles again which it sounds like you are really wanting and you can run stock wheels and 33's wouldn't look bad until you could afford new wheels/tires. if your dads willing to pay for the BL, just make him an offer to pay half of the difference b/w the BL and the rancho.

I 2nd that. Go with the 4" if you can find it for cheap enough and can sway your dad. A suspension lift is always better than a body lift.

Well, the 4" Rancho was actually what I really wanted, and he liked the Rancho, just not the price. So ya, maybe I could talk to him tonight... I had a deal worked out w/ him regarding my grades and lifting the truck/tires/etc... but he only wanted to one at a time... I know I could get my tires first since they'll fit w/ the 3" Level kit I already have on there... but I wouldnt want to drive it for a whole nother year till I got the lift... I really like the idea of doing the Rancho, but wouldnt it be super top heavy if I stuck w/ my 275's?

i think you would be fine. super top heavy? weights not changed, just not as heavy as tires. shop around for a rancho, check ebay, check local shops, etc you can probly get one for a steal. also check craiglist i have heard of people picking up brand new lift kits cheap. you have the stock tires still don't you? it should not look to un proportional w/ smaller tires and then you get the lift you want, not what you settled for so you should be much happier in the end

I think what he was referencing was the center of gravity.....

It wouldn't be any different than you putting the BL on with your stock tires really

Yeah, I was meaning center of gravity and sitting higher with narrow tires, as opposed to wider tires that would provide a wider base, and better stability... I don't really know if its that big of a deal, but I know my dad wont do it if its unstable

You don't have anything to worry about. Rancho wouldn't sell a kit and advertise it as ok to use stock wheels if it was at all unsafe.

the stock tires are 10.5 to 11" wide it wont be to bad w/ only 4" of lift and unstable definitely not.

I think you will be fine "center of gravity wise"

Ive got a total of 5" of lift on my truck, 3" body lift and 2" of torsion bar crank and im sitting on a tire that only measures 9" across the tread block and they are on stock wheels. Ive taken so sharp turns on the road and trail and havent flipped. But ive been driving lifted truck since i was 8. so its nothing for me.

Take heed to all people say here in relation to doing what you actually want to in the first place instead of compromising. It'll save you money and grief down the road I promise.

I thought just adding a leveler and 35's would quench my thirst for something bigger when I really wanted to go 6" and here I am, not 5 months after I bought my truck and 2 months or so after installing the said leveler and wheels, already getting ready to buy my second set of rims and tires and removing that leveler to put on a 6" lift.

Hind sight is 20/20 my friend
