Previous owner added 1 extra thicker leaf than stock. So i'm told it's rated higher than any FX4 and now is rated like a 250 in the rear. So no church here man, just a sore butt!

haha, yea man understand that. adding another one in there would definetely stiffen it up more than it already is. so did you end up taking one or two out?

I was told to de-arch them from my local spring shop. They said it would lower it by a 1" or so, but that they would still have the same ride. They didn't think it was wise to take one leaf out, and go with 3 only leafs. So i think i'm getting this set off a 05 4X4 i found at our local wreckers here. They should be 1" lower in height when installed, and most likely ride smoother than what i have now.

havent take a leafspring out of my F150 but i did to my ranger lowered it made the ride softer and 6 months later i was buing new springs. So if a light truck breaks them in that short of time i would hate to do it to a full size

hay you could try to find a ranger in the junk yard and grab its springs lol no serious look in to the truck bladders you put in the bed and fill up with watter this will do both jobs lower and give you a better ride then when you need to haul some thing you just remove the watter and haul it when your done put the watter back but if you do the springs you cant just put them back! good luck

04-05 has 4 leafs, 06-08 has 3, FX4 has same leafs as every other 4x4 only difference is the shock valving.

What tires and tire pressure are you running? That could be an easy fix.

Hey Diedrich,

I just did two things that improved the ride quality huge! After i found these 2 things out.

1 That the 04-05 models had 4 springs, and the 06-08 had 3 springs. So i had bought a set from the wreckers that had 4 springs and was told it would be the same ride quality as i have now with the Add A Leaf. So i got them to take out the Add A Leaf. It dropped 1" in the rear and rides smoother less choppy.

2 I went and put on some new tires and rims. I went from the upgraded 20" rims with 275-55-20 tires, to a set of 18" from a FX2 with Michelin LTX's 275-65-18 tires.

I'm also going to take out my FX4 shocks and put in regular stock 4X4 ones to take it a step further. It has a nice highway ride now, with a little bit of stiffness still. I don't know if your lowering it or not, but look at my photos to see the height of the rear now. Removed 2" blocks, took AAL out, and put in 2" drop shackles.

I love it when guys question you instead of helping you, like telling you it's a truck, or go buy a Chev! Anyways buddy try some of those ideas to see if it helps. It did for me.

Cheers
