Saturday I notched the bottom of my bed where my diff housing was coming up too high, now my spring perches are bottoming out on the top of my notch on big bumps, those L leafs are soft, they are traveling 3" before they bottom out. Not sure if i should try and trim the top corners of my spring perches or just put my bump stops back in, or both.

next couple of weeks, still need to order upper ball joints, and front shocks, I may get just the upper ball joints first and see how it rides and maybe wait a month for the shocks.

Rear isnt done, i need to figure out how to keep it from bottoming out on all the big bumps, and i need to install my rear L sway bar.

sounds good.

what about using the stock bump stop but cut down some?

So how much of the perch is hitting the top of the notch? Can you trim a little of both so you won't affect the strength of the notch?

you can see in the pic above, the basic shape is of the perch is a W, only the outer tips are hitting at this point because they are the tallest.

I definitely will not be cutting the notch any.

I have a hole in the notch for mounting a bump stop, so ill probably use my trimmed L bumpstops for starters and see how that goes.

I have considered trimming the top tabs of the perch, but that is probably last resort.

Good thing is it's not hitting much,looks like around 1/4" or less.. If you do trim a little bit of both you can always reinforce the notch more.

well bad news, the rear sway bar won't work with my truck being this low, guess its going in the classifieds....



I installed the bumpstops, its not really the permanent fix i am looking for b.c they are limiting my travel meaning a harsher ride, but it will for for a couple weeks until i can try something else.

oh yeah, i remember that thread, just didn't remember if you got it painted then or not.

as for the sway bar, notch your notch lol

end links that come down from the frame. The factory endlinks i have are too long. And there are brackets with bushings and an ubolt that mount to the axle.

Here's how the rear sits


Had my first casualty tho, i was backing into a parking space and on the left side of the of the space was a gutter, so as i backed in, my left side sunk down into the concrete for runoff, and i bottomed out on the curb on the back side of the parking space



Before. check out those nasty UBJ angles


Stripped the frame, set the spindle and brakes to the side for now



Old upper and lower control arms, my upper ball joints were toast!


All back together (sway bar disconnected)


Sitting down, only got about 1" drop out of the 2" arms


Then i noticed the bumpstops were limiting travel at rest, so they got removed


With the bumpstops removed i got my full 2" drop from the arms


Then i noticed the sway bar endlinks were way too long, and leaning at a 45* angle towards the front of the truck, so the sway bar and links got removed


Bunch of parts in the bed of the truck so she's squatting, also this was before i removed the bumpstops





Still need to do my alignment, i got it as close as i could get it for just eyeballing it.

Other problems i still need to overcome, i'm rubbing the inside of the front tires at full lock on the top of the fender liner. Im hoping after the alignment the problem will be less severe.
