New project! Need Help!
My 2001 F150 Supercrew 4x4 is no longer my daily driver. I want to put as big a tire possible on a 6" Fabtech lift. I dont want to put on a body lift. I will cut my fenders and put on fender flares. Can I fit a 38x15.50x20 mud grappler by doing this or stick with a 38x13.50x20 Toyo MT? My wheels are Incubus Recoils with 4.52 backspacing. I like the full fender well look. Will this work?
Thanks

im pretty sure bushwacker makes cut out flares, but not 100% sure.
I really doubt a 38x15.50 is gonna fit without rubbing, it might but you will rub the frame for SURE.
Theres 2 members that i know of with 97-03 F150 4x4's running 15.5" wide tires and they both have rubbing issues. They are running 6" fabtech and a 3" body lift.
So basically just so you dont rub the fenders you will need to hack off 2-3" of fender.
If you do that you might clear a 38x13.5.
so really you would be basically the same setup as the 6+3 guys, except you would be 3" lower and your fender openings would be 3" bigger. you might also have to cut the bumper.
Ive seen some really BAD lookin trucks tucking 40's under cut fenders and still be shorter overall than the same truck with 38's and a suspension lift and body lift.
If you are dead set on runnin 38x15.5's id look into getting some wheels with 3.5" backspacing. This will push the tires out further to help avoid hitting the frame when turning. Then get in the truck and turn the wheel and have someone watching the tires and marking how much you will need to cut off the fenders. This can work but you will be cutting the truck up. (normally this is used for more serious offroad apps)

heres an idea. a bed from a 2 door f150. unless there fiberglass as well. some company makes flares that resemble the bushwacker. if you cranked torsion bars to get 8" of lift you could probly squeeze em, just don't plan to turn to well lol. why not add a BL? that will allow you to fit the 38's. i know about didly squat about the 97-03's im just trying to be helpful as possible and throw out ideas.

But like i said earlier, you are cutting the crap out of a truck. Sometimes it looks good sometimes it doesnt.

i agree with that. i have seen lots of trucks with people not thinking when they cut their fenders. if you do go that route, take your time and do it right

The flare side beds are also fiberglass. The standard bed is sheetmetal, but it would have to be shortened to fit on a Supercrew frame. It would be easier and cheaper to install flared prerunner style bedsides.
Honestly, if you want to fit 38's, I think a 6 inch suspension and a 3 inch body lift would look a whole lot better.

go this route, it's the tried and true method for this gen. trucks. I want to say I've heard of somebody on here that squeezed 38's on a 6" lift for a little while, but it rubbed EVERYWHERE (I mean he rubbed just backing out of the driveway) and really wasn't worth it.
