Im looking at buying a 05 f150 4x4 and putting a rize 8" with 37's, my concern is the truck has the 4.6L in it so will the truck have enought power with 4.88's or should i give up on this one and try to find a 5.4L. Now im not lookin for a speed demon i just dont want to feel like i have a 4cyl under the hood if u know what i mean. So let me know if ill be ok with the 4.6 + 4.88's or go with the 5.4

 

You should be cool. I just wouldn't plan on towing much with that set up. The 4.6 isn't as bad as some like to think, but the 5.4 has more performance upgrade options. If I could choose again I would get the 5.4, but the 4.6 hasn't been a disappointment.

 

I'd say 5.4, but the 4.6 would be alright.

 

i think dirtbounds truck is a 4.6 and he's got a Rize so you should be fine

 

so does duece212 and entrevino, they seem to be OK. it wouldn't hurt to get an edge or some customed tunes too. you will be OK with 4.6 + 4.88's

 

i just put 37's and 4.88's on my 5.4 and man is it peppy now. you should be fine with the 4.6

dude you will be fine the 4.6 has plenty of power... it still has enough giddy up to get down and dirty with the rest of every other truck...and with 4.88 youll be fine...heres a few pics b4 i got my 4.88s

There's a guy on cardomain with the 4.6L running 38's on 20's with stock gears. I'm not sure if they're even 3.73's. Idk if I would do it, but he is and hasn't had any problems.

hahahahahhaahahahahahahahhah i wish it as black but ya you will be fine even without regearing...your not gonna want to try running the quarter mile with it lol but its got a lil giddy up the 4.6 is a strong little motor...it gets the job done...i cut the exhaust off at the cats and ran straight pipe and it dumps b4 the axle sounds mean as hell, i also have the superchips flashpaq
