$1,000 - Fair price for used Pro Comp stage on kit?

**edit: called back he wants $850 now + stock hardware**

Hi guys, just need an opinion to see if this is a decent deal.

Found a local guy that for some reason or other needs to sell his lift and tire package.

"i have a 6 inch procomp lift ford 04+ f150 2wd comes with everything to install the tires are 35/12.50/15 dunlop mud rovers and the rims are ultra thunder 17'' everything is brand new only had on truck for 2 months need to get rid of so call if interested xxx-xxx-xxxx the pic below is the lift and tires on my truck"

Obviously he has a typo in the tires as 15inch rim wont fit on NBS F150s

He is selling his truck and wants to return it so stock since no one wants to buy it lifted.

I called him a little earlier this morning and asked if he would sell me just the lift kit. He said he would for $850 + my stock parts.

I've been eying this lift kit for a while and have found it online for $1499 ( topguncustomz) $1,730.99 (4wheelpartsonline) few other places in the $1,300 range.

I think what we might do is find a shop that will take the lift off his truck and install it on mine and return his to stock and split the cost. Splitting the cost was my idea

I have a good feeling about this... any opinions? My truck is gonna look goofy for a while on 33s + 6 inch lift, but I need new tires anyway :P

Lastly, I've seen this questioned asked before, but I wanna get some confirmation, stock 17 inch wheels will work with pro comp 6 inch as long as the tread isnt too aggressive?

thanks guys!

Yeah man I'd do it too....Ask to see a receipt or something to confirm that the lift is indeed only 2 months old though. I grew up in San Diego and know how shady people there can be sometimes.

Thanks for the opinions. Haven't heard back from the guy, but talking to him it sounds like he knows what he is talking about.

I'll ask him for the receipt or purchase confirmation. That's a great idea that hadn't crossed my mind.

Look at what you might pay to have his taken off might be same as new one, I would not trust a used kit, just my 2 cents

Seems no one has answered your question about running the stock 17" wheels with the lift kit. It won't work. After the pro comp lift is installed the tie rod gets rotated 180 degrees meaning instead of being under the spindle connection it is above the spindle attachment point for obvious angle reasons. With the OEM 17" your turning radius will be greatly, and by greatly I mean HUGELY, reduced, because now the tie rod will rub on the outter lip of the wheel when turning. You need to get a different wheel that has 4.5" of backspacing so you can make full turns without rubbing on the outter tie rod. It grinds like crazy and can't be safe to drive this way. I put my 17" xlt wheels on to take a road trip and it sucked. Just to get into parking spots I would have to go forward, backward, forward, backward, etc. etc. until I could get turned enough to get in. So go for it if you like - but you won't be happy this way, trust me.

Otherwise go for it!

So I ended up getting the Pro Comp lift kit. Not this one but another one local for $1K. Great guy sold it after it sat in his garage for a year or so, never used, parts still wrapped in padding.

Now time to save up money for some wheels... Anyone in San Diego looking to let go of some 17 inchers wth 4.5 BS on the cheapy? Hoping to run some 35 x 12.5s Would a 17 X 8 wheels be ok, or should 17 x 9 be the minimum width for that?

Replacement Parts

So I did an inventory of the kit last night... Looks like its missing some parts.

Missing the following:

13-90390 U BOLT Qt4

20-65302 9/16" HARDWARE PACK: U-BOLTS Qt1

95-300F 3" ALUMINUM BLOCK Qt2

90-6313 HARDWARE PACK: 2004 F150 CROSSMEMBER Qt1

Sent a couple of emails out this morning (Pro Comp, topguncustomz, the dude i bought them from). HAvent heard back from any of them. I'm hoping that The guy i bought this from just forgot to include them, but the fact that he's not responding is a little worrysome.

Anyone know of any other place I can try to get some of this hardware from?

Thanks!
