KYB Struts ?
#2
I've used KYB stuff before on other vehicles and for what they cost, they're OK. They're worth the price IMO, but you also get what you pay for. If you're shopping for a great product instead of a cheaper alternative, they're not the answer. If you are shopping for a cheaper alternative you'll probably be OK with them. Everything I've had them on I could really tell the difference when I stepped up.
And just bustin your chops, but your truck doesn't have struts. It has coil-over shock absorbers. No, it's not the same difference

So you're trying to say that the '04's are different from '05 and up?? 2004-2010 are all the same and they are not struts! A strut doesn't have the spring mounted on it and something with a strut does not have an upper control arm. With a strut, the top of the strut is moveable to make alignment adjustments...does yours do any of that?? Nope! Coil-over.
A good example of a strut would be on a '87-'93 Mustang. I don't know of any truck 2 or 4WD that has a strut. May be something out there, but it ain't your Ford.

Struts and coilover shocks are very similar, but Galaxy is correct. The 04-10 F-150's have IFS with dual a-arms and coilover shocks. No need for a pissing contest, a lot of people interchange the words struts and shocks but technically, coilover shock is the correct terms on your trucks. However, it's not a big deal people refer to engines as motors all the time.

Also, for you to say the coil spring is not attached (wrapped around) to your shock (i.e. Coil-over) you clearly have not looked at the front end of your truck and don't know of what you speak. Every '04 and up F150, 2 and 4 WD has the same coil-over suspension.

So you're telling me your 'coil' springs go 'over' your 'shock' absorbing device, but they're not coil-overs!! Interesting.
I know it seems that I may be obsessing, but I'm really not. Just concerned with you having proper information, even though you've been told by two of us now that they're not struts.
So one last question...since we are obviously wrong and all these trucks have struts instead of coil-overs, please please provide us a description of a coil-over and how it differs from a strut so that we may also know the proper components. Thanks.
