gauging interest on removal

i am curious to know how big of a PITA it would be to take my body lift off. i am wanting to go with a suspension lift kit. i am curious because i would like for someone to just goto a shop with me and have the shop trade it over to there truck. difficult or not.. and what would a good 6-8'' lift kit be i know alot of people talk about the RCD kit and its pros and cons with people running king coilovers which i know are pricy. all input is welcome thanks alot guys

i would consider a body lift a permanent modification, especially if you didn't keep the hardware that came off the truck originally.

it can be done, but it is not worth it. since you already have it on, why not look into a 4" lift or just man up and throw that 6" on there. haha.

I would say probably just leave the body lift on, I am betting its going to be quite a bit of money to get that removed. I would just get a 6" with coilovers, from reading on here it seems to be that the fabtech or sky jacker lifts seems to be the best quality. Then just run some 37's.

pulling it really wouldn't be that bad. all you would need are the factory body bolts. the thing is, the fan shroud was cut and modified to mount onto the engine block along w/ the fan blade. the factory set-up has the shroud mounted onto the radiator (body) and the blade on the engine (frame-mounted)

you would have to either leave those parts in, or swap to e-fans, and delete the fan shroud altogether. i will agree that ground clearance sucks with a body lift, and just 35's, and you probably do experience some level of rubbing.

the new gas lines that came w/ the kit can be cut down to stock length. the steering spacer is entirely removable.

nothing was done w/ the body lift that makes it an entirely "permanent" modification.

6'' is only marginally more expensive than a 4'' lift.

Body lifts are a real pain to install on the 04-08's so I'm sure they would also be a mojor pain to remove.

well i mean i dont hae any dislikes with the body lift its just that i do like to go off roading and i am just worried that with only the body lift the articulation and flexing might not be good for the truck.... who all has taken there truck off roading besides just mudding i mean were there truck actually gets flexed and stuff???

I have flexed my truck to it's limits with a body lift. I don't how it would hurt it. I take it offroad and mudriding with confidence.

just don't jump it, lol, and you'll be ok. fwiw, most drop bracket IFS lifts would not be suited for jumping, either. i would only trust a custom long travel suspension for that.
