Tire bounce

I have a 99 expedition 4wd. When traveling on the highway it feels like the driver side tire starts to bounce uncontolably. it will settle down and drive fine then start bouncing again from time to time. It seems like it does it intermitantly but will usually do it at least every drive. when it bounces the entire steering wheel starts to vibrate badly. I thought maybe an out of balanced tire but i had the tire checked and was not out of ballance and it also does it with another set of tires also. i looked at all the suspention components but could not see any visible signs of any thing wrong.
Has any one else experianced any thing like this. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it happen consistently around a certain speed? Could be your wheel bearing assembly starting to go, maybe your ball joints. Any chance your cv joint has been damaged?

Have you ever replaced shocks?

I have inspected underneath but could not see any visable signs og any thing wrong. I checked the wheel bearing hub asymbly and it feels solid ,no movement.
No I have not ever changed shocks since I have had it. Will a bad shock cause these symtoms?
I does not do it all the time. It seems to do it like when i change lanes and go over the markers in the dividing line(bumps )in the hiway. it comes and goes and not at any set speed.

Yes worn out shocks will cause bounce.

It could also be something as minor as an improperly balanced wheel (maybe you lost a weight) or a tire with a different air pressure than the rest.
