Unhappy Alignment problems

I recently put 2 inch rough country lift coils on my truck. I went to get an alignment and they said that its got about 4 degrees of negative camber and he cant do anything to fix it. I asked about camber bolts and he said that it would run me about 250 for the parts and for them to install them and it would only fix about 2 degrees.

Is there anything i can do besides buying longer upper control arms? Which i don't think should be needed with only 2 inches added in there.

Are the adjustable cam bolts something i could install myself?

any thoughts/ideas/input?

Sounds like you need to try an alignment shop that actually knows what they're talking about and doing.

When I installed a 2" AS spacer on my truck I had a friend of mine who is an Ford ASE mechanic that works at a local Ford dealership do my alignment. Truck aligned back to specs fine with no issues. Some Ford dealers sell trucks with lifts, leveling kits, and drop kits already installed. They install them at the dealer. They know what works and what doesn't on these trucks.

BTW Camber kits don't give you more camber, just easier adjustment.

what year truck? The 97-03 camber kits are + or - 2 degrees from stock centered location. spec is somewhere around -1 degree IIRC. they are anywhere for 60 to 100 for the set.

If you installed the lift coil you should have no problem getting them installed yourself.

its a 2001. do you know where i could buy them from?

the print out that they gave me says that the truck has almost 4* neg cam. with the cam kit do you think it could get close enough to not destroy the tires?

yah you will get it closer to -1.5 which is acceptable.

off the top of my head i know Eibach, Ford and Goodyear gemini shops carry them. you can do like i did and buy them and install them in their parking lot on jackstands and then let them align it

Almost all parts stores carry camber kits. The bolts are usually around $40.

I had the same problem you did. I found a place that would do the alignment and install the camber bolts for $140 so I figured "ahh what the heck" and did it. Mine was horrid to the point to where there was noticeable wear on my tires, and it was only driven that way for a little shy of a month.

If it wasn't that bad then it wasn't far from it. They were set in big time.

Thats an idea, but you dont really have to take them off if you just do the bolts one at a time. They did mine without even taking the tires off, I know, because I had the lug lock in my pocket while they were working on it.
