Alright man look.. Lets turn all this around

What is your goal in mind with your truck? Are you wanting a high rise with some beefy mud tires on it? Or do you want a truck that functional as a pre-runner style truck?

Its far easier on us is we know exacty what you are wanting to do

And dont take what a7x_nocturnal says to heart either man. Its all good. He along with others know a thing or two about the pre-runner set ups and what not as he is building his own as we speak. Hes not trying to be a complete a$$ so much as to help you realize that what your buddy is telling you isnt really possible without ALOT of modification to your truck.

I want a high rise with some beefy mud tires. I know I only have a 2wd but I want it to look good and go off roading some. I am really not going to talk that guy anymore about my truck that I taked to the other night. It is obvious now that he isn't completly correct with what he told me. He also said it was going to be cheaper to go with a baja lift instead of a normal lift so that is why I was asking.

Well if the type of lift he is talking about is similar to that of the pre-runner(desert racing) style trucks then you arent going to get the kind of height you are wanting out of those lifts. Our trucks need about 9-10" of lift just to clear 37s w/o any rubbing and included with that you have to have the right wheel set-up. Your best bet, in my opinion, would be getting the 7.5 fabtech lift and then getting a body lift on top of it. Unless you want to go with one of those lifts that I posted earlier that run 3grand a pop... without shocks . You are going to need quite a bit of lift if you are wanting to run 38s(especially wide ones) but spending $1500 or so could get the 7.5" lift+the 3" body lift

2WD trucks can do just as much as 4WD if set up right. Wheel tavel is key..and takes some $$$ to achive. Which would be the Long travel "baja" kits. But for what your looking to do and achive is totally diff. And ya, your friend was mistaken.

Like posted below and above, and what i said. Look into Pro-comp or fabtech. They will be your best bang for your $, and get you look you want. But you need to think, thats 7.5in lift..Then if you want to do 38's (i strongly suggest against that) your gonna have alot of tire lift as well. 35's would look good. maybe 37's, cause anythign higher than 35's your tranny and rear end will hate you, along with your wallet.

I think that 7.5 lift and 35's would give him about 8-9 total in of lift, since he would be getting about 2-3in of tire lift from stock to 35's. No rubbing to worrry about. Good selection of tires.

And to all who said i was an A$$, ya, i was, and i dont apoligize for it.
And also, yes, their are stupid questions, and stupid posts, that are not needed and just cludder up the forums. That being said, If its a valid question doen after some research, at least put what yr truck, and what your looking to do to it. Give us some detaisl so we can better help you.

In the end, if you read what i said, i was tryin to save this kid some $$$, if he listend to his friend, who was obviously wrong, it would have cost him alot more $$$ than he needed to spend, and alot of trouble.

Well if that be the case then he has to go with a 6" fabtech or pro comp lift and then get a body lift. Which I doubt will have him running anything bigger than the 37x13.5" range and if it fits it will be tight.

Thanks for all the information guys. I will probably go with either a 6" or 7.5" lift and then either 35" or 37" tires. I just needed some advice on what would be good for what I want to be done to my truck. I am not going to go back to that guy anymore for info on my truck.

For some strange reason I thought you had a 97-03 F150. So theres no 7.5" Fabtech option. You will have to have either 6" Procomp or 6" Fabtech I believe thats the only kits of the 04-08 F150 2wd F150's. Your bolt pattern is also 6x135mm NOT 5x135mm

For what you are looking at doing Id recommend either of the 6" Lifts. If you have the cash i would upgrade to adjustable coilovers. Then Crank the coilovers up 2" This will give you a total of 8" Of lift. Now find a set of Wheels that are around 4.5" of back spacing and run a wide 35" tire.

HERES WHAT ID DO:

6" Fabtech
Adjustable Coilovers (whatever brand you want)
Crank coilovers up 2"

20x10 wheels with 4.5" Back spacing
35x14.5-20 Pitbull Growler (these are BIAS PLY tires but they are very hard rubber compound and are getting excellent reviews.) Pitbull is now offering RADIAL tires but none available in your size.

4.56 Gears This will help get the truck moving again, for a 2wd truck it wont cost much 600-1000 max, and is a huge improvement
