Question Warranty Issues?

Hi everyone, I am looking into having a 2" Ready Lift Leveling kit installed onto my 2009 F-150 4X4 Lariat. The local Ford dealer is telling me that if they do not install it, that it will void out any Steering, or suspinsion warranties. I just can't justify that the Ford dealer wants $650+tax to install a cheaper make leveling kit, than what I am looking to install for only $300 OTD.
Does anybody know if I will void out any warranty?

Question Warranty Issue with 2" level kit?

Hi everyone, I am looking into installing a 2" leveling kit on the front end of my 09 F-150 4X4. The local Ford dealer is telling me that if they dont install it, then it will void out any steering, or suspinsion warranty. I can't justify paying twice as much for them to istall it. Does anybody know if this is true? Will it void out any warranty?

I say let them do it as some trucks have more problems with leveling kits than others. So just to be on the safe side when you do need to replace ball joints, ties rods and etc it will be covered and cost you nothing compared to spending the extra 200 or so to have it fixed by them or just in parts to do it yourself.

But to answer your question yes it will void warranty but if your dealerships are cool than they will work on it anyways and cover you.

Well, that's kind of an iffy proposal. It's like, it would be hard for them to prove that if you installed a leveling kit and something in the suspension failed that it was the fault of the kit, but it would also be kinda hard for you to prove that it wasn't.

Long answer made short, it depends on your dealer. Some dealers have more leeway into what's covered and what ain't than others.

Thank for the advise. I think I am going to let the dealer do it after all.

It will not void the warranty. There's a federal law which prevents it.

Thank you for the advise. I am thinking about just letting the Ford dealer do it. I dont want to void any warranty, then have a problem later and end up spending the money to fix it then, when I could just spen it now to save the warranty.

It's called the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Dont do that. Your dealer is trying to just rip you off. That leveling kit will not void your warranty unless it is at fault for causing a suspension problem. All you do is get the truck aligned right after install and you should be good to go and it wont break anything else. They really are blowing smoke up your rear!

Some what related to your question.

Two months ago I bought a used 2008 Screw that had a body lift already done to it. I don't know who did the lift as the truck was a lease return. It came with the certified warranty and I had them put it in writting that the BL would in now way effect the warranty. I think dealers can do what they want to a point.
