Steering rack or more?

On my 06 2wd lariat I swerved off the road to dodge a driver that had no idea what they were doing, and i hit a tree stump.... Shattered the factory 20ich wheel on the passenger front side, dented the bumper a bit, and it seems that i might have blown out my steering rack, considering the fact I cant turn the wheel with out hulk level strength.. the control arm seems to be okay. What else should I be checking? I saw a steering rack online for around 280$ does that seem about right?

Check tie rods, upper and lower control arms to see if they are bent as well. Also that seems about right for the steering rack. Also check tascaparts.com for all ford oem and some aftermarket parts. They have great prices there.

so a little bit of an update i had some time to poke around the truck now in the daylight and noticed this number....

That is where the lower control arm atached to the body on the side closest to the cab..
I notice the mount for it is in really bad shape.. can this be cut off and re welded..? i went to ford and they want to sell over 3500$ worth of nonsense.

here are pics of the rest of the damage.. F150 0, Tree stump 1

you all dont even wanna see the wheel.... its in not 1 not 2 but three peices... all this at 30mph and of course the person that cut me off took off like a bullet..

Insurance?

Sorry about the tree stump, and glad YOU are in good shape. If your already at $400.00; (well at least my deductible is $500.00) why don't ya just add $100.00 to it and turn it in to in the insurance company you've been paying for, and use them?

Well darn, it was worth a thought anyways. Have you thought about trying any junk yards to get some of the parts off of, as long as they didn't have any front end damage?

I never thought about that. Didn't think these would be in junk yards yet. I'm just wondering if that bent part could be beat back into shape, where the control ARM mounts or if I have to cut it off and get a new one made...
