I’m going to attempt to resurrect this thread but I’m looking for some information. I am currently in the process of building an F150 and was looking to learn about the lowering process of the Torsion Bar setup in the 1997-03 F150 4x4. I understand that you can adjust front ride height with the torsion bars but I’m looking to not only lower the truck but also make it handle well (no bouncy ride). Is that something that could be done? I’ve already sources larger (16% higher rate) torsion bars, as well as custom larger front sway bars, and performance rate shocks in the front, would that be enough to make the truck handle more like a 2wd Lightning F150 of that generation that had the coil-sprung front suspension?

Go search the OP of this thread. I believe he had a build thread on his lowered truck. I believe he used Chevy torsion keys, and used a bell tech lowing kit and an axle flip.

There is nothing like taking a sub-400 HP f150 through a winding road. Lower it, tweak the camber and toe, AWD traction. WOW!

How so?

You must mean like those who run a lift kit for running 37s with deep lugs that will ever only see highways or parking lots so the tire shine isn't smudged????lmao.

Whether 2WD or 4WD, look same plus 4WD is more versatile on grass, sand, dirt, gravel hill sides & snow or ice conditions. Then there is 4WD-LO to add uses, like pulling jobs.

It will not be identical to a 2wd, but it will drastically improve body roll and tighten up the front end. Front was chevy keys and cut bump stops down. Rear was hangers, shackles, removed lift block and 2wd u-bolts. I did at one point do lightning leaf springs (i forget which year, but it was too low to maintain the rake I wanted) and later on I did rear helper air bags which was perfect for when I would haul.

The stance is more bulldog than level, because you can only take so much out of the front. So maybe 3" down in the back. I could have gone down less in the back with that kit, but I wanted max drop all around.
belltech 3/5 drop is there one for a 4x4 I've only found 2wd my truck is a 4x4 but I want to drop it 3/5 but can only find 2/4 kits.

Just joined, wanted to say hey. Here's my 2016 Limited 4x4 guessing one of the lowest static drops around for the 4x4, anyone confirm? Running Inez 4-6 kit, AND the Belltech front adjustable strut to get another inch.. so, 5-6 drop.

I wonder what the angles look like front axle shafts at inner and outer and what they look like when hitting a good bump or dip at speed. Even if not engaged and turning, they have to be nearly maxed out just parked.

Hey all, wasn't quite sure where to post this...

I'm ready to drop the money on a new lowering setup...Maxtrac 2/4, BWoody traction bars, 22x9.5 +30mm, 305/40 Nittos, and some AirDesign/RKSport stuffs. Anyone have experience installing a similar setup? Anything I should know before/during/after the install? There's not a lot of info out there regarding the Maxtrac spindles...specifically the difference between the Belltech lowing kit vs. spindles. Other forums have threads with similar builds but they're old and no one responds. So I thought I'd try my luck here.
