Leveling Kit 2009
New member looking for some information..
I traded by 02 f150 last year on a new 2009 F150 Supercrew with 6.5' bed and Fx4 package. I want to put a leveling kit on the front so it doesnt look so sloped but im confused on a few issues. First ive read some warning about excessive stress ont the control arms and ball joints< are these kits safe or am i adding something dangerous. 2nd what kit do i use since there seems to be about hundred of them 3rd I plan on keeping the stock 18" FX4 rim so what size tire do you suggest ,dont want to go up to the 35" though. Any help and pictures of this rig completed would be great..

If you buy a 3" leveling kit, it will probably put too much stress on your ball joints, which is the main reason why people say buy a 2.5" kit. But I don't think a leveling kit can be dangerous, I could be wrong. Go on ebay and look for a solid 2.5" aluminum spacer, or which you're most confortable with. Each 2.5" kit will do the same thing, it just comes down to, would you rather pay more for the same thing? I have a leveling kit on my 2004 f150 with 33" BFG A/T's, but I don't see a need to post them since your truck is the newer bodystyle. A good tire size would probably be 295/70/18 IMO.

I would go with the 1.5" Autospring kit on these 09+ F150's, we dont' need as much as the last model to level us out. I have a 1.5" AS kit with 33.2" BFG AT's in my profile, as you can see I"m dead level, almost too much so, I am considering buying a rear block to get some of my rake back.
A 1.5" Kit will net you about 2" of lift, I am looking to gain back about a inch.

any pics? i have a '10 lariat screw 5.5 bed and im looking at the autospring kits. i want to be dead level as possible so its between the 1.5" or 2". i know hell bent 2" makes it level but im leaning towards autospring due to the offset design and coating(snows where i live and dont want rust)

sorry been working a lot will post some pics...the 1.5" kit is dead level or a tad high, i also have a cap on my 6.5 bed so maybe that puts a little weight on the rear, i tow a 4k lb boat so im eager to see what that does. i would not go more then 1.5 in my opinion..

i talked to a guy on ebay whos online store sells the autospring kits to lift up both the front as well as the rear of the truck. he was very friendly and we exchanged a few emails.
i gave him my truck info and how i wanted the truck to sit after installation. i told him i wanted it either completely level or with a slight bit of rake to the front. i just absolutely do NOT want the front to sit higher then the back. so he recommended to me the 2" front kit that comes with 3" rear blocks to achieve what i want. said the front to rear will only variate about 1 inch instead of the near 3 that it is now at stock. so if that helps out anyone in the future then glad i could help.

actually let me make a correction, it is listed as a 2front and 3 rear kit but it brings the front up 2 inches and the rear 1.5.... but what the difference will be post installation im sure will be different than going by just those designated numbers. i believe i have read as ive paged through articles that a 2" front kit will give closer to 2.5. hence why i got the 2", played it a little safe. either way at least 2 extra inches of clearance on the front is what im looking for at the moment.

If you go with a 2" AS kit like I did, your upper control arm and ball joint will look like this:
and your truck will sit a little nose-high going from this:
to this:
I recommend the 1.5" kit. I am pretty sure your 2010 will be roughly the same as my '09 pictured above. Also, keep in mind that you will need to remove the two lower control arm bolts to get the strut back in if you have a 4x4. Otherwise, you have to apply tremendous force to overextend your CV joints.
